I thought Legacy of the Duelist sucked between its slow ass resolves and the absolute BAREBONES presentation... but this game looks professional and the engine, while not as quick as YGOPro, is more acceptable.

But the best thing is the banlist. I think it's just OCG? Which as someone with performapals and pendulum magicians as their pet decks, that's AWESOME. LotD used the Worlds banlist, which takes the harshest restrictions from both OCG and TCG, and that sucked.

I wonder if there's much of any customization options. Like can you have the anime characters or certain monsters as your player avatar? That'd be really cool.

It kinda seems like Konami is using it more as a simulator than a normal game. The story mode is kinda there, but it's more card lore stuff, so they might be shying away from anime stuff.

oh shit it's on steam? how advanced are the decks? synchro, xyz, pendulum?

i was playing duel links but i lost interest just before the pendulums hit

It's got like everything except some of the more recent things. Like I don't think it has that Cyberdark booster. I've heard July 2021 thrown around as being similar to the OCG meta around that time.

AFAIK it's up to date with the current release of the OCG. All extra deck monsters, Master Rules 5. But the single-player decks should ease you in.

Some of the decks are legit unfair. One dude used a deck where he summoned a million monsters and had a card that can skip my turn is he sacrificed two monsters. So he just did it over and over.

I literally lost without even having a turn or being able to play a card. So unfair

The banlist in the game is a bit bizarre honestly. There's a lot of cards that were basically limited for a long time that aren't currently limited.

That's modern Yugioh for you. Special summons out the ass. Pokemon had a great way to combat this in which cards are only viable in competitions for a few years or so before being vaulted. But yugioh doesn't do that so there's a power creep every year in which the cards just get so much more powerful year after year to the point that a top tier 500 dollar deck or whatever is completely outclassed by basic cards after 2 years or so, if that.

Yeah Master Duels is kinda unhinged. The banlist is OCG April 2021 or something so crazy shit like Rhongobongo and VFD run rampant. And to curb these combos you need hand traps which the unlimited Maxx C is supposed to do...but the only 1 duel format is shitty because some decks don't care about certain hand traps (coughEldlich) so you can't really side in properly.

Lack of side deck is based because it means people can't side in for my dumb absurd pet decks

That's generally the case at least. Madolche are still a reliable rogue deck and they haven't had any new archetype support since like, 2019? That said, the staples that fill the rest of the deck do get stronger.

But seriously, The World lock isn't a good deck and never has been. It would mostly lose against the real meta decks.
