Change fart to plart?

Can't wait to play around with my plant based fossil fuels.

It was great fun, if a little hard work. It's hard to see how it can be played around with, though, because it's like trying to play with coal or oil. I'd feel uncomfortable trying to go outside to plant new seeds or gather fuel, and the more so because it seems unlikely that it'll work, and the effort needed to extract more fuel from the remains of those plants may just put them out of bounds for all but the most desperate circumstances.

A bit more info: I have a friend that used to be a nuclear physicist and he has a theory that the first photosynthetic organisms were in the bottom of the ocean and when the oceans cooled in the Devonian they came to the surface to start photosynthesis. If true, this might explain why there's no evidence of early photosynthesis on land. His theory is that once the first plants moved from the ocean into the forest, the oceans gradually warmed and the seas receded. This allowed marine life to colonise the continents again and start photosynthesis.

I'm not sure I buy that, but I'm happy to entertain the idea for a while.

"I don't know much about plants, but it looks like a potato." You can't just grow a nuclear reactor out of a potato. You can grow one out of algae, though. Algae is kind of a big deal these days, but if you think about it, it's probably the best reactor material we've got. It's simple, cheap, and it's the kind of stuff you can grow in a lab. Also, it grows by photosynthesis, so it's going to emit exactly the same kind of waste as a plant. If you have the potato, or you have the potato's waste, then you just have the material for a nuclear reactor.
