Just saw it again tonight. Just went to get some chicken, and when I pulled up to the chicken place there was a huge, lifted monster truck outside. Didn't have a speck of dust on it (natch).

Walked inside and at the counter was a guy in a flat brimmed ball cap who literally didn't come up to my shoulder. (I'm 6"4.) I immediately guessed he was the truck's owner.

Sure enough, it was his truck. I laughed when he opened the door to get something out of it and the floorboards of the truck were almost up to his nipples.

You know why.

It's no secret that shorter guys tend (tend, not always, not even in general) to be insecure about being short. Most ripped guy in my high school football team was like 5'

You should tell them to lift a bridge and get over it but itd just go over their head...

It's just funny how its almost always true. The only thing that really made me notice is how he was half into the parking spot next to him when I pulled up. They tend to not be able to park those monsters either.

At my work all the big pickup truck guys park in the back together. Some have dubbed it "compensation row"

Yeah something like an 80's toyota helux with a mild lift, reasonably larger tires, and some after market bits looks pretty sick to me

Yeah, just look at the ford ranger, the new ones are absolutely massive compared to the previous gen ones

I've seen some 'big" guys in those lifted trucks too. They're compensating for something as well.

Minus the aftermarket stuff, these trucks can be seen daily - driven by at least half the landscapers in Los Angeles.

Those old Toyota pickups mostly turned to dust in the salt belt.

Considering people like TC exist it's no surprise that they feel this way. Imagine people making you feel less than human because your arms, legs, and torso aren't quite as long despite being well within the norm. Also why is size shaming even allowed on this site? It's pretty similar to making fun of people with a physical handicap.

I went to high school with a guy like that too-- he was maybe 5'4 and roided the fuck out.

Idk why but this made me think of the time I was confused when I was in a store and someone came in and asked if I was the owner of the little white truck. I drive a 2003 Toyota tundra. They ain't little. They just ain't massive either and I wasn't considering she was a little redneck girl who's man probably drove a massive pick up

The thing that bothers me the most is that I estimate like 75% of truck drivers have absolutely no functional need for a pickup truck. They're all like managers at Dick's Sporting Goods or social studies teachers, not people who actually need a flatbed to transport shit.

I inherited my truck but it's come in handy several times. To be honest though the bed mostly acts as a trashcan for me. I just recently swept out about 30 soda cans out of it so I could help move a dresser.

They're not less than human for being short.

But they are assholes for feeling the need to buy obnoxious, loud, gas guzzling vehicles tricked to the nines for off-roading that a majority of them never do, lifted high enough that they blind every driver that they're behind on the freeway at night with their ridiculously bright lights, and 9 times out of 10 it's too much truck for them, so they just park it with their tires going into the adjacent parking space. They're shoving their huge inadequacy compensation into everyone else's day.

With behavior like that, they deserve the "manlet" label.

And comparing being short to being handicapped? Dude........

One time I was driving down a residential road tailgated by the usual overcompensation mobile pick up truck. He kept trying to swerve around me and flash his lights but he couldn't get passed me. Eventually the road splits into two lanes and he IMMEDIATELY switches to the lane next to me, but we are stopped by a red light. He pulls the window down and starts shouting some kind of homophobic middle school tier insults. I look over and he's some tiny scrawny nerdy looking chump. I roll down my window and said "Sir. You appear to be a little upset. Are you okay sir?" He says something like "gayboy" or stupid like that. So I just chuckle and blow him a kiss. That window rolled right back up in record time.

When the light changed he immediately speeds off and switches into my lane as some cringy attempt to block me... only for me to immediately make a right turn so it didn't matter.

That's the people who drive those vehicles in a nutshell.

I don't think mechanics mind fixing those

Most of the people that I've known that drive big pickups have been some of the coolest, most down-to-Earth people I've known.

this topic is weirdly mean spirited. you saw somebody minding their own business using a car and decided to come online to mock them because they're short and using a truck? ok...as if everybody you see driving a truck is gonna be tall.

they aren't...bodybuilders are pretty much evenly distributed. you might get farther as a short bodybuilder because they tend to look better than tall ones, which explains why there are a lot of short elite bodybuilders

I drive a Wrangler with a 4" lift on 35s and I'm 6'3". I'm just a country boy that loves offroading.
