I love how the stories intertwine, it's pretty fun playing each character and watching the overall story progress. Mercenaries mode is fun too, it's the 2nd best in the series. Capcom ditching it was a really dumb idea, there was no reason to get rid of it.

I know some people don't like 6 but it's one of my favorites next to 3 and 4.

Capcom should bring it back instead of going thru with REverse or whatever online bullshit they're trying.

I wish they let you play as mutant lightning bolt shooting Piers in mercs.

Or Ustanak, that'd be metal.

Really wish the Xbone version could link to RE.Net, that was the coolest shit on the 360 version. You could unlock extra costumes.

I mean, Leon does have a great Chapter 1 and Chapter 4.

Everything else is awful.

It's a shitty zombies / RE game but a great coop game nevertheless.
The only part i enjoyed was the beginning of leons campaign. The rest was just a gears of war/call of duty/die hard crap that barely had anything to do with RE

Yeah, I thought I would hate it but it wasn't that bad. I enjoyed it more than RE5 if only because they fully embraced the action by updating the gameplay accordingly. Not as painful to play solo either.

I would have really liked to equip multiple perk/skills in mercs too. Most people would probably go for the time bonuses and power counter but it'd fun to be able to experiment with different combinations.

If anything the fact its absolutely plain and mediocre is worse than being terrible

I agree TC. I think it's hilarious how every few months a RE6 topic pops up and some people praise the game in some ways. Reception of the game in general has become more favorable over the years. Goes to show Capcom that they shouldn't always listen to the haters.

The entire direction of 7 was basically an admittance by Capcom that they messed up

When the high points are "Its pretty at times and a mediocre shooter to half ignore in the background as you play with your pals" then the game is a mess

6 is trash.

Looks amazing next to 7 and 8 is probably the most concise way of putting it. You don't even have to risk complimenting the cinematic interjections that way.

RE6 is one of the worst action games I've played. It's really fucking bad. The entire game is a mess and thankfully they ditched that style of RE.

They went back to over the top action with RE8 but they dumbed down the mechanics for modern gamers.

Bosses are outrageously longer than they should be
ALOT of sections are dragged out poorly to artificially increase game length, especially the annoying ones
Upgrade/Skill system was unnecessary

About the only good thing it has going for it is the coop multiplayer and Mercenaries, by which only a handful of them are actually enjoyable.

Upgrades has been a thing since 4 LMAO.

Fortunately, they chose not to improve upon it and we're now thankfully stuck with generic Amnesia clones. With lots of slow walking and cinematic interjections, less reasons to go back to the game than ever, a protag who's almost as exciting as dropping a slice of pizza and it landing face down on the carpet plus forced and inorganic versions of things that once made the series funny and endearing.

But at least the people who get their opinions from Youtube essays and Cinemasins aren't sneering at the series as much anymore. Super duper.

Game is trash. I don't even think Leon's section is any good. Ironically the best section to me is Chris because it leans in to the shooty shooty pew pew pew that they so desperately wanted. Lol @ Amnesia clone comment. Not at all is 7/8 like Amnesia. Oh my god, you have to avoid Jack and Marguerite for like, 10 minutes! Amnesia clone CONFIRMED! RE3 and RE2 Scenario B are also Amnesia clones, who would have thought?!

The whole "It has bad controls!" is just a fake reason to hate on RE6, IMO. Previous RE games had shitty tank controls and they were all clunky as fuck but for some reason people decided RE6 would be the one entry in the game to piss on the controls.

I didn't like 6's controls at first, I wanted more like 4 or 5 since in those games it necessitated it being easy to understand how enemies operate but after coming back years later I was able to appreciate it as something different. Mercs mode with the power counter skill was pretty good fun and I still go play it from time to time.

I feel safe assuming most of the people complaining about the controls were just looking for something to blame because they're the same people who exaggerate Sheva's AI being horrendous because she didn't deadlift them through the entire game.

6 has issues but its one of my favorite coop experiences ever, right alongside RE5.

Its a decent action game. Leons scenario is the only part that half ass feels like a Resident Evil game. The rest feels like a cheap CoD knock-off, especially Chriss scenario.

I'm speaking in general. Like someone else mentioned, thos topic comes up every couple months. People constantly argue what a true RE game is. When like I said, a "true" RE game isn't a thing anymore. Add that a lot of people who try to gatekeep "true" REs also has one their favorites as the first RE game that wasn't a "true" RE game.

6 is a fantastic game. The core problem was that they flubbed several small things when the game launched that got fixed with later patches, like the ability to skip the unfair quick time events that give you barely any time at all to do them. Another big problem was that the game did not give enough instruction on the complex control scheme. The game has a fantastic system for dodging and melee, but there is no in-game tutorial to mitigate the steep learning curve.

it's almost like when the rest of the game was good, people were more forgiving

RE 6 is by far the worst main game in the series and thankfully 7 and Village/8 course corrected.

If they make a game like 6 again I will not buy it nor will many other fans of RE.
