Fire Zack Snyder

or Zack Snyder takes his head out of his ass and realize his mistakes and improve as a director (which I doubt hell ever do since his ego is fucking ginormous)

i side with the former.

If The Batman is a critical and commercial success, they can possibly build on that. Otherwise, they're looking pretty well fucked right now.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Zack Snyder is no longer even involved with DCEU. His version of Justice League was a one-shot deal that is not part of DCEU canon. If DCEU still sucks, it's in spite of him, not because of.

His version is actually Canon but may not be after the flash movie.

JL theatrical States Wonder Woman hasn't been seen for 100 years and we know that's not true. Zack Snyder's JL doesn't have a scene like that.

They DC Animated Universe laid the groundwork a long time ago for an amazing combined universe with Superman TAS, Batman TAS, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited. They should have followed that framework instead.

Its pretty much impossible to save it at this point. Itll have its popular movies and its trash movies. Looks like theyre leaning a little bit more towards actually decent movies at the moment, but itll never be the phenomenon that is the MCU.

It's canon, as so much as there is a canon. Made by the same core people and the original creator, and FAR better than the original.

The DCEU as originally envisioned is already dead. Joker and the new Batman movie are completely unrelated to the DCEU. We're getting Keaton back as Batman. They soft rebooted Suicide Squad only a few years after the original release. Shazam made zero efforts to tie in to the original DCEU.

It's clear at this point that DC is gong to make movies out of ideas they think will work and ignore the MCU-style universe. And it's largely been wiring, as they're more recent releases have been much better than MoS, BvS, or SS.

I get the feeling that they're trying to put some distance between the movies before they try to re- emphasize the shared universe aspect.

Frankly, I won't be surprised if that's much more than a cameo too. But 8ts also really weird because it means Venom both exists inside and outside the MCU universe....

As long as they don't have Spider-Holland dancing around like Spider-Maguire when he got venom'd, they'll be just fine.

Yeah Zack Snyder really gave the DCEU a bad rep. I can definitely see why they aren't continuing with his version. Warner Bros has been releasing films sporadically, without any of the DC films having any tie ins with one another and most have been mega hits. I'll say for DC to stick to what works and just make movies when they can without the need for a continuity from another film.

Yea this is basically what they've been doing lately

Throw out what didn't work. Keep what does.

The only thing is people expect a WB/DC Feige to be out in the press explaining how all this does or doesn't connect. What is or isn't canon

This. They started off on a shaky foundation from the beginning (or at least after Man of Steel).

It was clear the only real direction they had was fasttracking to a Justice League movie and it felt nowhere near as organic as what the MCU did. While it was clear that the intent was to originally build up to an Avengers movie, they took their time fleshing out the universe and its characters. Figuring out how to make Thor work in the context of an MCU that had been fairly grounded up until that point. Doing early groundwork on each character's character development so that when it came time for the big crossover, the distinct quirks between each character could be fully explored once it came time for them to interact.

The perfect comparison is BvS vs CA: CW. On the surface, they are very, very similar movies, with two heroes in conflict with one another as a result of the machinations of a master manipulator. But Cap and Iron-Man already had clear ideological differences even before heading into that movie and Zemo merely took advantage of that.

Whereas in BvS, it's just Lex Luthor forcing them to fight by literally going "Fight Batman or I'll kill your mom!", which isn't anywhere near as interesting and is pretty lazy writing. Like, the entire DCEU is written just to make certain scenes happen without any regard for actual character writing.

Something being different doesn't make it better.

Snyder generally does a shit job of handling the classic DC characters and that's the one area where Marvel usually excels. Marvel's so good at that that they're able to go back to characters people previously disliked and make them work.

No no not what I mean, but spoilers just in case

Morbius is in the same universe as Venom. Morbius is also in the same universe as the MCU, per Vulture appearing, meaning Venom is in the MCUverse. But Venom is also outside the MCUverse per No Way Home, since he gets sucked in by the spell.

Not necessarily. Keaton doesnt necessarily have to be the Vulture in Morbius/Venom land but could easily be in prison for some other shady dealings, given he was pretty shady even before he got his hands on alien tech in the main MCU.

I mean, I fully admit that its a thin explanation. But multiverse shenanigans can get pretty ridiculous, after all.
