It's funny how over the course of over forty years Star Wars developed and evolved such an aesthetic all its own that people can see stuff that was inspired by Star Wars roots (old Ralph McQuarrie designs, Flash Gordon stuff) and find it out of place.

I think the short of it is those guys look out of place for Tatooine specifically because Tatooine has almost only ever been about drab desert aesthetic.

Like if those kids showed up on Coruscant streets I don't think anyone would care.

It seems weird that Slave 1 would just be sitting in Jabba's garage untouched after all those years. It's been shown multiple times that you don't need a key or anything to turn a starship on (Anakin with the Naboo fighter in Episode 1, Obi-Wan with Grievous's ship in Episode 3, Rey with the Falcon in Episode 7) so you'd think someone would've swiped it by now.

Also not sure why Boba seemed so pissed off with Bib Fortuna.

Does this mean I'm gonna have to watch Mandolorian

Its worth watching on its own merits imo. It has its ups and downs but my hype level at the Mando theme that ended this episode reminded me how much I like the character. The main actor is one of the best ones working and there are a bunch of other great performances throughout the series as well.

I dunno. Being a huge contrast to the "used future" theme somehow makes the biker kids fit into it more.

What better way to incorporate a disaffected youth culture into starwars, than making them colorful and shiny?

Why did Boba think his armor was in the sarlac pit?

That made no sense to me. He clearly was trying to fighting off the Jawas as they stole his armor. He should remember that.

Yeah, only way I can explain it is his brain was in a fog from being exhausted/partially acid burned.

I can buy him not remembering any of that, but I did imagine he'd assume there was no way he could get out of the pit without his armor. Maybe he was just being thorough though.

Anyway, I enjoyed it. I still think the Tusken flashbacks were the best part of the show. But if it's not as good as The Mandalorian, no big deal. I hope they don't go utterly overboard with the cameos, but I would really like to see Bossk at the very least. It's set up perfectly now with Krrsantan in Boba's employment now.

Well that and "we wanted Fett to get his moment of revenge on the Sarlacc".

Which... if they wanted to do that, then just have him make it personal. It's not about the armor. It's about revenge. He hangs up there above the pit, drops a seismic charge, and says "smile you son of a" or something equally pithy.

But I guess we needed to add a complete lack of tension in the struggle of him just sticking Slave I cockpit first into the thing's maw.

Personally, I don't mind the characterization of Boba Fett here. I never got caught up in the EU hype for him.

But the show is way too slow. A short movie would have been enough to hold us over till Mandalorian S3.

Also, drunk Krrsantan was both great and scary. I thought he was gonna massacre all the Trandoshans. Definitely my favorite character of the show so far.

Ok. Let's say he was groggy and didn't specifically remember the Jawas taking his armor.

If he woke up in the middle of the desert without his armor, his first thought is that he left his armor in the sarlac pit? How would he have gotten out without it? The armor was what was keeping him alive. Or did he think he got out with it and somehow it fell off back into the sarlac pit?

It just doesn't make sense to me. It just made Boba Fett seem kinda dumb honestly.

At the very least, his first thought could have been that someone must have looted him while he was unconscious.

It's something I can overlook but while watching it definitely had me confused.

he got out and immediately fell unconcscious afterwards
having some memory loss of exactly how it happen isn't that implausible, and the sarlacc was the only lead he had, so i think it's more that he hoped it would be that simple

Yeah if it was just done for revenge against the Sarlacc, I think that's pretty dumb. The Sarlacc is just an animal (or plant maybe?) so it obviously shouldn't be anything personal. He didn't even drop the seismic charge.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Favreau is trying to do a "see how this parallels the past?" thing, which doesn't quite work.
Hopefully we're done with it, now that Fett is "healed".

I wonder if the weekly release is hurting the show.
Seems like the "setup" episodes would be received a lot better if it was possible to binge the whole show in one go, instead of taking nearly two months to pay off.

honestly, it feels like people have forgotten how tv works in general. they don't seem to want any world building, or slow burn stories at all. every episode has to be beginning middle and end, and simultaneously intricately connected to a massive overarching plot.

Maybe if they released up to now in one batch it would have been better.

But imo this was the best episode so far. It answered more questions and had less fill but left me wanting more. Up to this point I was watching it solely out of SW fandom but the hook has finally been set for me.

I find this very disingenuous. I'm not a hard critic of Boba, I enjoy it even if some things do bother me. But as for your point, I watched the pilot episode of Justified the other day and in that single episode it set up the main character as typically how I'd expect a good-guy version of Boba to be and ironically in just a handful of episodes (if even that) had accomplished everything you suggest is... I'm not sure, asking too much?

Yeah if anything theyre not doing enough worldbuilding. Even for example in episode 1, getting out of the Sarlaac pit was frankly pretty lame. They could have done a lot more with that.
