a king of the hill in modern times sounds like a good idea. id watch it.

I have mixed feelings here. KotH is fucking iconic and is one of the best shows ever made, and even the later episodes are still well above average...but I also fear the possibility of a reboot that fails and ruins its legacy.

I agree. Everythings going to have to be watered down because of cancel culture now. They ended on a good enough note, so I see no reason to risk it.

A reboot? Ew, I prefer a continuation like seeing Bobby in college or something.

The double trash takes here. Name one thing from the og show that would be cancelled now. The show is pretty much universally praised to this day.

The series finale is going to be Hank Hill in the voting booth for the 2024 election and it will end on a black screen before showing who he's voting for lol

I think the biggest question, no matter what they do, is how they'll handle certain characters, namely:

Cotton
Didi/Good Hank
Luanne
Lucky
Luanne's daughter

Cotton died near the end of the original show's run, but I'm wondering if they'd retcon that in a reboot since he's a downright iconic character and it's hard to imagine the show coming back without him. If he does remain dead, Didi/GH sort of vanished at the end of the original run without much closure, so I wonder if the should would bother to address those two at all.

For Luanne's family, the morbid fact of it all is that both Luanne's and Lucky's voice actors have died since the original run ended. Luanne in particular is a major character, so the question becomes "Do they recast them? Do they have the entire family move off? Or do they kill off Luanne & Lucky and have the Hills take the baby in?"

Just kind of a tough one to figure out since there's no telling how the reboot would follow from the original continuity at all. Cotton & Luanne are both pretty big characters, and I'm not quite sure how a new series would be without them.

I agree. I loved the later episodes, which you'd think would be where it falls off but it doesn't.

Since Mike Judge is still in charge I'm sure it will be good.

I do hate to say it, but this does make it slightly easier to just say "they moved to Tennessee" or something. They can be gracefully written off without any hard feelings.

cotton's death can't be retconned. but they can show him in flashbacks/memories if they really want to put him in the show. KOTH has shown plenty of flashbacks of cotton/hank/peggy etc from when they were younger, they can do it again if they want.

idk what will happen for luanne et al

I saw people saying they could add Luanne & Luckys daughter to the cast of characters, where Peggy and Hank took her in after L & L either died or abandoned her.

Maybe. But I think k it would and more interesting if he was like the only conspiracy theorist not to jump on the Trump Train.

I could see Dale saying that Q-Anon is too mainstream for him and that it's a secret ploy by the government. That's a very Dale attitude to have.

My brother and I were talking the other night, that it might be interesting to do a show about Dale, Bill and Boomhauer, with occasional appearances from Hank

Nah with how blatantly open antivaxxers and Qanon folks are Dale would think they're all part of the scheme and false flags/psyops. They're too mainstream for him.

It's on Hulu. The entire series is pretty good.

Glad to hear the rumors going around for a bit were true, and also that I spammed the entire series in recent history to be fully caught up ti speed and in order.

Curious to see the direction they take things and how the characters turn out aged up a bit.
