American history and never having a serious leftist President for one would be a pretty big indicator lol.

Taft wasn't exactly leftist but he was definitely left-of-center.

He was a complete goober in somewhat funny ways. There are other kind of interesting aspects about his time in the limelight that are just kind of fascinating to consider, such as how the Progressive Party was created to oppose him due to his support of a bill that acted as a rather early example of a sin tax on coal (and iron, though the irony isn't exactly as brutal there).

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Right, even Missouri of all places has repeatedly said fuck you to people trying to turn it into a right to work state. Unionization has its roots in leftist ideology, it's just that corporate owners have done a good job of associating it with Soviet Era socialism

A lot of people are receptive to ideas that the left pushes, as long as you watch which words you use to present the idea

Teddy Roosevelt was pretty left for his time. I can't imagine any serious president today doing the shit he did to the plutocracy.

Youre wrong TC

https://www.citizen.org/news/progressive-policies-are-popular-policies/

The policy most associated with the progressive agenda, Medicare for All, earns 70% support among Americans,

Two-thirds of all Americans favor expanding Social Security not just maintaining it, but expanding it. Republicans favor the concept by a 2-1 margin.

A strong majority of Americans favor doubling the minimum wage to a living wage of $15 an hour. Seven out of 10 Republican voters favor raising the minimum wage.

Three-quarters of Americans say the tax system favors the rich and has too many loopholes. Three-quarters say that the wealthiest and large corporations should pay more in taxes. More than six in 10 Republicans agree. Sixty percent of Americans favor a wealth tax on those with more than $50 million in assets.

https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2019/03/27/majority-of-americans-support-progressive-policies-such-as-paid-maternity-leave-free-college.html

But on the issue of maternity leave, 84 percent of the public approve of a federal requirement that employers provide paid maternity leave, paced by 94 percent support from Democrats, 83 percent from Independents and 73 percent from Republicans. Increased federal funding for child care is supported by 75 percent of the public, including overwhelming support from Democrats and Independents but also majority support from Republicans.

A healthy 60 percent majority support increasing the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour from $7.25. However, Republican support is only at 31 percent while Democrats and Independents sport strong majorities in favor.

Similarly, 57 percent of the public support tuition-free state and public colleges paid for with federal dollars, including 80 percent of Democrats and 61 percent of Independents. A small but not insignificant 28 percent of Republicans also support the plan championed by Democratic Presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders.
