If I shut my door, it'd just invite my moms suspicion to come check on me. It was a fairly soft 'not allowed to shut your door' because I could still shut it if I wanted to, though I didn't want to because wasn't a fan of shut doors growing up. I never lived with my dad, but he stayed at my place for Christmas a few times and holy shit living with him would have been annoying. He knocks, while simultaneously (and quickly) opening the door.
