Compared to 2, 3 and especially 4 yeah. Actually has somewhat developed characters and follows the conventional movie three act structure. I saw 4 in theaters and felt like walking out. None of the characters acted like real people and it was just mindless noise and junkyard explosions for over 2 hours.

And none of those "developed characters" were Transformers. Hence why all the live action movies suck.

It was not good. I believe the technical and canonical English language term for someone who enjoys any of the Transformers movies is a "normie"

What are some instances of the characters being developed in 1? 2 and 3 seemed to have about the same amount of growth

My memory is fuzzy because i havn't seen 1 in like 10 years. But I remember it actually taking it's time setting things up and establishing characters, there were actual consequences and stakes. Most of all, there weren't so many dumb immature character moments. Like the guy whipping out a literally age of consent handbook to prove he's not a pedophile, Bumblee peeing on agents. Can't remember anything in 1 that made me cringe and want to watch another movie.

I mean obviously its not Oscar worthy but it was a really cool action flick and cartoon adaption at the time when most cartoon to big screen movies sucked.

kinda like how John wick was a good movie but its not something thats gonna be historical for movies

If you are making a franchise you have to let a movie end with the bad guys victorious. Its the reason Empire Strikes back is the best SW movie.

The only things that are memorable about any of those movies are the parts that are truly awful. They are a cavalcade of over-stimulating explosions, poorly directed CGI, and destruction that numbs the mind and leaves the slack-jawed impressed. They are an insult to cinema made by a manchild.

One would think a manchild would be most suited for making movies about giant robots based on a childrens toyline.

Ive only ever seen the first one. And the only thing I remembered about it was a scene where Shia and Meghan were hiding in a tiny shack of some sort while the robots fought, and there was a clumsily edited in 2 second shot of Meghans breasts jiggling.

2 was basically them throwing in the towel to appeal to both sides of the demographic, while ultimately banking on being able to sell toys. I think they expected enough people to scream for a LEGO tie-in that they had to do it, and banked the plot off of Shia LeBeouf's involvement in Indiana Jones

Ultimately, it's not a movie anyone was really happy with, but kept the discussion going. Dark of the Moon tried to return a little more to the grittier themes paying homage to the G1 series we enjoyed so much from the first movie, but the budget just wasn't there. It was cool though!

At the end of the day, this movie makes a perfect pair with the Resident Evil film series in that they both ended up being surreal departures from the main source material while also somehow faithfully adapting the spirit of the franchise in its own unique way. They both created a world that is uniquely them, and stoked imaginations across the world, driving the brand-name further into immortality.

By Age of Extinction, I think they had perfected their formula, but sadly lost the attention of mainstream young adults.

Looking forward to the Beast Wars thing they're doing. I have weird standards. Lol
