2 was basically them throwing in the towel to appeal to both sides of the demographic, while ultimately banking on being able to sell toys. I think they expected enough people to scream for a LEGO tie-in that they had to do it, and banked the plot off of Shia LeBeouf's involvement in Indiana Jones

Ultimately, it's not a movie anyone was really happy with, but kept the discussion going. Dark of the Moon tried to return a little more to the grittier themes paying homage to the G1 series we enjoyed so much from the first movie, but the budget just wasn't there. It was cool though!

At the end of the day, this movie makes a perfect pair with the Resident Evil film series in that they both ended up being surreal departures from the main source material while also somehow faithfully adapting the spirit of the franchise in its own unique way. They both created a world that is uniquely them, and stoked imaginations across the world, driving the brand-name further into immortality.

By Age of Extinction, I think they had perfected their formula, but sadly lost the attention of mainstream young adults.

Looking forward to the Beast Wars thing they're doing. I have weird standards. Lol
