What "cool enemies?" Literally every enemy is present that was in the original game.

The new merged drain demios/brainsuckers are more spidery than their previous incarnations.

The removal of the bloodsucker worms and crows are not that big of a deal to me, but removing the grave digger made me sad. They could have had a cool underground fight with him.

I want to see Capcom do a remake just to see how they handle Alfred.

Had more of a mainline impact than 3 it seems.

It's my favorite RE game but I don't think a small band of fan developers will do it justice. It takes millions of dollars and a huge staff to put together a quality game. The trailer looks like bits and pieces they stole from REmakes 2 and 3.

I disagree. 3 had the end of Raccoon city in it. That single event has been brought up countless times. Other than glowy eyes Wesker, CV didnt have much else going on.

Before people freak out, it's a fan remake. It's not from Capcom. They have 4 lined up next and have apparently been taking years to focus it down. I'm excited to see the results, even if 3 should have never happened in the state it did. Ultimate cash grab.

What "cool enemies?" Literally every enemy is present that was in the original game.

They cut the worm in the park. He had a pretty big presence in the original.

Nobody cared about Wesker besides his boyfriend Chris. Even Claire and Jill let him go almost instantly, and Jill was his personal gimp for a spell.

None of which majorly impacted the storyline.

Wesker being alive led directly into Ada and Krauser's involvement in RE4 and then he's the main villain of RE5. Then his son is in RE6. I don't know as much about the side games, but I know there's also some some silly shit about a sister of his.

The fall of Raccoon City. Those things happened in response to the outbreak, not specifically the city blowing up.

My point is that you could have easily gotten to those same points with just RE2. RE3 didn't matter much.

Which is why CV impacts the story more than RE3. They could have mentioned RC being sterilized in one of the future games. Would have fit right into that opening narration of RE4.

The only impact Code Veronica has on other games is Chris knowing Wesker is alive and completely ruining any surprise in 5, Wesker having superpowers, and coccoons in 6 having a little flaming effect

If you don't know what's coming ahead of time, even if you're careful with supplies, you could get potentially screwed out of your run. That feels like a major screw-up with the game's design.

Code Veronica is one of the worst games I've EVER played when it comes to backtracking, Steve is an atrocity, Wesker barely shows up, the final boss is fucking atrocious, and CV has more opportunities to (effectively) softlock than just about any game I've ever played, and certainly any game in a hallmark series like Resident Evil. You could cut Chris's segment out of the game entirely and not miss much. Claire at least has a tinge of personality, but Chris is just a brick and Claire completely loses any agency the moment he enters the picture. Claire falling in love with Steve is absolutely hilarious because she has zero reason to. Claire gets captured (after defying gravity and falling faster than her gun) because she's looking for Chris, but as soon as she gets captured, she has the brilliant idea to email Leon to tell him to email Chris and he shows up in a matter of hours. Why didn't she do this before? How does Chris know Leon? Why can Chris, who is hiding from Umbrella, ignore this and go DIRECTLY to one of their military bases? Why is Alexander such a worthless and intensely annoying character? Why does the game give you a sniper rifle (without explaining the controls) and then make your only possible opportunity to use it in an enclosed arena with snow so heavy you can't target the boss's weak point unless they're right in front of you? Why is the game so poorly designed that the game has checkpoints at multiple times in a series that, up to this point, had limited saves, because there's no way you can see some of the deaths coming? Why is Claire's second segment just entirely composed of bullshit? How can anyone think this game is good when there are so many flaws?

All its particular flaws are why I really want it remade. The basis for a great RE game are there.

This is the only argument I will accept for a Code Veronica remake; however, a remake would have to shuffle a lot around and it'll make some people very upset that it's not 100% faithful to the worst Resident Evil game that isn't a gimmicky spinoff.

Remake istantly loses points for not having D.I.J outside the mansion.

It's just so damn dated and full of bad design

No difficulty settings so game is just piss easy
No alternate character route to give replay value
Steve is a terrible character
Voice acting is bad but not funny bad like RE1. Just competent enough to be utterly bland and boring. Both the Voice Acting itself and the dialogue.
Backtracking done wrong, long stretches of running back and forth across the same rooms/corridors for no reason beyond padding. Very few short-cuts or clever alterations.
Loading screen/transition every 4th step
Horrible tank controls
Clunky inventory where you have to keep opening it up to use items or switch weapons
No more beautiful backdrops
Poison is just a dull chore
Reuse of Wesker
And how could I forget, the plot was "Claire is looking for Chris." then she casually sends Leon an E-mail telling to go tell Chris what happened.....

And let's not even touch on the woke politics where Steve and Claire walk past hundreds of corpses, zombies, literal torture chambers where blood was everywhere, guys with their guts hanging out etc but then are horrified and deeply disturbed/freaked out by a crossdresser.

People give RE3 shit but at least it tried something new. The dodge mechanic and the "Make a choice!" moments.

Code Veronica just feels like paint by numbers. Sure the graphics are better than the PS1 but for Resident Evil who cares? RE1/2/3 still look fucking great. There's an art style going on.

Can't believe it got such rave reviews back in the day.

Exactly, I genuinely don't understand why people like it.

CV is the only RE game I couldn't really bring myself to finish, including the rail shooters. Maybe I'll give it another go.

CVX is the best classic RE game. I always thought thats how it was regarded til this board

Maybe I just don't remember the specific lines well enough, but I always got the vibe that they weren't bothered by the crossdressing so much as him dressing up and pretending to be his dead sister.
