The same parties who blasted the Lfven administration (October 2014-November 2021) for not having enough restrictions now object to the new restrictions implemented by the Andersson administration.

The Nationalist party Sverigedemokraterna (SD) and the Liberal party (L) take it the furtherst.

SD is trying to get Magdalena Andersson impeached by reporting her to the Constitutional Committee for Government overreach (experts say it will go nowhere).

L on the other hand loudly scream that they will vote no to an extension of the Pandemic Law next week. The Pandemic Law give the Government the ability to implement anti-covid measures normally limited by the Constitution.

The Neoliberal leader Annie Lf also blasted the restrictions during yesterdays party leader debate in Riksdagen. Now she has covid.

This is cases per day:

We are seeing a huge percentage of the population get infected by Omicron right now. It can potentially create a shitload of patients (hopefully not). So to be anti-restrictions right now is to be pro-disease imo.

Yeah it's fairly obvious imo that they're hypocrites just trying to be contrarians. There's a point to be made that restrictions are now made because of e.g., the seasonal flu (since COVID hospitalizations are relatively low compared to previous peaks) in lieu of proper financing of the healthcare sector. But that's not the point they're making. And such financing and restructuring doesn't happen over night.

That is correct - the healthcare sector need a lot more funding and resources. If done right it can limit the need for restrictions. What make these parties extra hypocritical is that they govern a majority of the Regions and it is the Regional politicians who govern healthcare. The Right-wing parties in particular keep cutting funding for healthcare. Stockholm is the prime example with a multi billion surplus but cuts on healthcare.

And the current situation with record breaking numbers of infection, we do not yet know how that will affect the need for care.

1,5 million cases have been recorded in Sweden so far during the whole pandemic.

220 000 of those are from the past 14 days with most of them from the past 7 days.

Edit: We have a high vaccination rate but 1.2 million people are still unvaccinated. If a few percentages of them need hospital care, then it is a disaster.

Ugh, that's stupid.
I can understand if they wanna vote against it, whatever. (Understanding and agreeing are not the same, to be clear)

But to do that is just completely ridiculous.

I'm not sure if "KU-anmla" realy translates to "impeach"
But, then i don't know what the alternative translation would be

Yeah, we agree. KU-anmlningar have become this abused tool. Vote no but dont use it for every time you disagree. KU is for serious business.

I have found kesson to make valid points several times during the pandemic by the way, but now he is going directly against himself and I dont understand why.

Aye, impeach is the closest I could think of in English but it is not 100% accurate

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

It could explain why parties switch between agreeing/disagreeing on restrictions <___<
