Here's the thing, I contacted an old friend I had a falling out with. Back in the day, we would bar hop and I found out that he told a girl I was getting ready to hook up with that I have an STD.

I was livid, he told me he was doing it as a prank. He hung out with a lot of d bags back then so I believe this was his humor, but I let him know it wasn't ok. Punched him in the face, took his jacket, and left him at the bar. We cut ties.

Ten years pass, dude has gotten his act together, is married with kids and I touched base since it has been so long and I got COVID blues.

We start hanging out again and he wants to get into good shape. Over the years he has gotten fat and I spent the whole time in fitness activities. Says he wants to learn to rock climb with me.

Well, at first hanging out is fine, but I realize the dude has some quirks that really annoy me. He doesn't try hard at all at the gym, he will climb one or two easy routes, then scream "I can't do anymore! My arms are too tired!"

But he doesn't train to failure, dude gives up as soon as he breaks a sweat. I start to get annoyed at his weakness and explain that until he pushes himself, he will get nowhere. Dude never listens.

So, on top of him slowing me down, he also has really antiquated sense of things and is just really out of touch. He complains about people we meet, like some dude with tattoos was talking with us and he's actually a pretty cool guy. As soon as he walks away my friend starts going off about what a loser that guy must be and the real world probably chews him up and spits him out.

I look at this dude, who is fat and bald, and I am just like '"Are you serious? What real world are you living in? He fits in better than you do.". He was shocked I gave him this reality check and shut his mouth. But there are always incidents like this. I am probably going to punch him again if he makes another boomer joke and embarrasses me in public.

Tl:dr version is that I touched base with an old friend and am starting to regret it. Do I friend dump him again?
