At first it didn't seem too different, but then I realized that not only do the missiles change direction to follow where you're pointing, but if you have your crosshairs on an enemy after the missile misses them, it'll literally turn around and go BACK to hit the enemy. I like that. So you don't have to lead targets, you just keep your crosshairs on the target and everything hits.

I've been playing in a group of 3 total as an engineer but I'm finding him kind of boring. I like his grenade launcher but that's about it. I think I want to switch to the driller, but the engineer feels kinda necessary as a support character to place platforms for the scout and gunner to use after grappling to high-up deposits. Would I be screwing us over by switching?

Gunner can use his Zipline launcher to get to mats on high places with no standable platform. Scout can get high too on standable platforms, or it's a matter of grappling hooking right on top of the material if it sticks out a bit. They get an armor upgrade that reduces fall damage too so low risk if trial and erroring high places. For stuff that's too low so that ziplines are overkill, Driller can drill into the wall and make pathways. You'll do fine.

Or you can tough Engineer out to level 10 which is when you can do an assignment to unlock his second primary weapon which is an electric SMG. It's still not on DPS par as Gunner or Driller but I found it a bit more enjoyable to use than the shotty

Ah that's good to hear. I think I'll try the driller and see how we do. SMG does sound like an improvement, but the flamethrower is just too fun and deadly and the ice version I've seen of it looks cool too.

Yeah the flamethrower and cryo cannon are just too fun. And honestly the drilling is just overall so versatile. It's a great combo with the cryo cannon and the vampirism perk

I've finally tried all three driller weapons, and I vote Mr. Freeze as best weapon. The sludge shooter seems kinda neat and strong, but just feels awkward to use. Freezing stuff and switching to pistol to finish it feels so satisfying, plus its benefit multiplies with four people, so I like the buffer support aspect.

Yep. Cryo is just too good in a team environment. Amazing CC and triple damage for everyone without having to rely on weak spots which in turn means better ammo economy for everyone

Sigh. Theoretically protect drilldozer missions should be so easy. But I swear I run into the worst people during those missions.

I get it. Mining oil isn't the sexiest job. But holy shit just nut up and help me so we can get the mission done faster. I've probably ran more missions where I had to refill both oil tanks myself than not.

And then sometimes idiots just do the drilling the omeran heartstone or whatever right away. When I don't have any fucking ammo because some idiot took two resupplies and we have no nitra to resupply when we could easily scout the cave first for some. But nope.

Sorry for ranting in here lol

Well on the escort missions, in those rooms where the drill breaks down, I like to first completely scour the room for supplies, minerals and secondary mission items. So that's probably what everyone is doing. I only take the fuel canisters if I can't find anything else and nobody else has taken it yet.

I promoted both gunner and driller now. Just starting my engineer career. I made him look like Dr. Robotnik, I couldn't help myself, it just makes too much sense.

I like the platforms, but his weapons don't seem nearly as good as the other two I played. I get that's a balancing thing. He's all about getting places easier than some of the other classes, so it's cool. Anyway, it's super fun starting over with a whole new character, it's like a whole new game. This game just keeps on giving.

I main sticky flame driller with the overclock. You can just lay down 2 lines of flames and watch the normal mobs die. Can save a ton of ammo for the team.

uninstalled it and never will touch it again, when you can lose an hour's progress due to bad rng and have that amount of time be lost and mean nothing for the 3rd time is when I say "go fuck yourself", such awful design

The Iron Will perk is so fucking clutch and underrated. Just had a match where our entire team went down (Bet-C is no joke), but I managed to pop it before the mission-failed screen, and had just enough time to run over to an ally and revive them before the perk wore off. Just barely ended up winning that one.

It's great especially when paired with the Driller+Cryo Cannon+Vampirism. Pretty much a free revive since healing during Iron Will negates the die again effect

I like this game but god it has some awful enemy design. The tentacle that grabs you from the ceiling should not be both unavoidable and capable of killing you from full health. That's ridiculous. The only options to avoid certain death are to waste a perk slot (not worth it) or constantly check the ceiling (tedious and easier said than done with how dark this game is, especially without a scout). If there's not a teammate in the immediate vicinity, you're just fucked. And if they don't know what killed you, they'll get grabbed too when they come to revive you and then it's mission failed.

The grabbing enemies are there to make sure your team sticks together. They're nothing if you have teamwork. I don't mind them.

I'm almost to level 25 on Engineer. He's surprisingly good at combat I've found, especially after you get rid of the shotgun. The turrets are actually effect, I was expecting them to suck. I get about half my kills from them it feels like.
