I think they should offer an "Isekai course", about simple chemistry, and stuff that would help you if you were transported into another world.
It'd get kids interested in science, and the scientific method, more than other standard courses.

Also, when they teach history, it shouldn't be just date memorization - that's not history, that's just chronology. History should be the story of why it happened, and how - and the human condition, it is essential.

when I was a senior in high school, there was this class that focused on: taxes, credit, bills, etc.

I forgot some of what was taught, but I appreciated it.

I also had a carpentry class, but nothing related to plumbing.

Things I learned in highschool, as part of core curriculum:

basic carpentry & use of shop tools
business applications on PC (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
basic taxation (non-applied; theoretical)
compound interest

And in public school we learned to sew.

I see a lot of people clamoring for taxation to be taught. Part of me thinks that these people merely just skipped/didn't pay attention. :/

as for what they SHOULD teach, idk, more global history and geography rather than whatever i just local. Keep teaching local, but augment it.

How government works and how laws are passed.

Too many don't actually understand how it works. Noted by how some are so genuinely baffled and confused why legislation hasn't passed or why Presidents can't just do whatever they want with a wave of a pen.
