Got a new router and noticed that it now shows two separate wi-fi signals, one that says NETGEAR50 and one that says NETGEAR50-5G. Whats the difference and which one should I use for the usual functions (computers, video games, Smart TV, etc.)? ... Copied to Clipboard!

5G is faster. 2.4G (NETGEAR50) has better range. --- ~Sincerely yours, Legato and Vash~ Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/kid_prodigy23 ... Copied to Clipboard!

Yup. If you aren't very close to the router, 2.4G might be better. Also, some older devices aren't compatible with 5G and won't see it. --- ~Sincerely yours, Legato and Vash~ Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/kid_prodigy23 ... Copied to Clipboard!

The Netgear50 is a 2.4ghz wifi network using an older wifi standard. The Netgear50-5G is running on a newer 5 Ghz wifi standard. The advantages of 2.4 ghz wifi are that it can support older devices that don't have a 5ghz wifi receiver and it has a longer effective range (due to being a lower frequency signal). The 5ghz wifi is going to be faster and less prone to interference so basically what I would recommend is to use the 5ghz if your devices support it and you have a good signal to it. Use the 2.4 ghz for any older devices that don't have a 5ghz receiver or those that are relatively far from the router. --- Posted from my iPhone 13 ... Copied to Clipboard!
