Is any other fitness activity that isn't sport-specific doing as much for overall fitness and health?

Like, you have powerlifters who need to wait another 7 minutes to shift something more than 3 times, bodybuilders who can't run a mile without gassing out, strongmen who shit themselves and die of heart attacks at 40, cyclists who have the upper body strength of pensioners, instagram thots who only train one muscle group and never eat enough

Then you have people who just go to the gym and just fuck around on the treadmill for 30 minutes and never get anywhere

Gotta say, crossfit people are generally quite impressive in overall fitness. They lift heavy, they do shitloads of cardio, they train plyometrics, balance, conditioning, aerobic and anarobic. And like, the rhabdo thing seems pretty overblown.

It's easy to laugh at their fucking weird pullups but then again all the crossfit people I know in real life have made the most dramatic physical changes in the time they've been doing it.

WODs are silly; the same workout (and the same weight of resistance or same # of reps) for everyone is bollocks. One should want periodization and progression.

Poor technique is rewarded because it's a social, competitive, timed environment which often leads to injury.

Price tag is hilariously high.

Sure, it's good fitness insomuch that it's cardio and lifting. If you stick well with anything and kept at it, you'll see improvement. This can be done in a standard gym with a basic ass routine of full body lifting 3x a week and cardio on off days.

The only thing I know about crossfit is that the "pull ups" their members do are pathetic.

I don't think you're wrong here but I think it's dependant on the particular crossfit coach/gym you get to. I think crossfit provides a pretty good community approach which motivates a lot of people.
