Pharmacists across Canada are once again seeing thousands of canadians walking away or cancelling appointments after hearing they would be receiving MODERNA as their booster shot and not PFIZER as the country is saving those shots for young canadians whereas moderna has not been approved as of yet.

That is creating significant challenges once again as Omicron is ravaging the country with hospitals overwhelmed and thousands did the same thing last spring when they questioned the safety of Moderna or mixing vaccines during the rollout of second doses

Now they have less choice in the matter as public health units are receiving pfizer for younger people and there is greater supply of Moderna.

Those 18 and up will only be offered moderna at clinics. Jason Chomic, who opted to get Moderna despite getting Pfizer as both of his shots. He said he would have waited if it not for Omicron being so widespread

He said "I'm glad i got the booster but i'm still concerned on the long term side effects of mixing vaccines"

Despite public messaging that vaccine mixing is safe, they are still reluctant.

Over 80% of Canada's population is double vaxxed and Pfizer is still the top brand most canadians are willing to only get.

Even doctors are given mixed doses and wants to educate the public around pfizer vaccine and it's similar vaccine Moderna where research even shows that Moderna is more effective against Omicron than Pfizer

This is dumb. I'd gladly take either one of those.

Already did, Pfizer, Moderna, Moderna. 1st Moderna shot was hell for 4 hours but then fine, 2nd one no problems at all. Pfizer made my lymph nodes swell to where I was worried my throat was closing. Was going to try to get Pfizer for the 3rd shot because I didn't want to repeat my side effects from the 1st Moderna shot I got but couldn't secure a Pfizer appointment before my Moderna one so I thought better to just get it quickly. In the end I could have got Pfizer this past week but I wanted it before my boyfriend visited and not during either so it's best I went with Moderna so I had my booster by the time I saw him coming from out of province.

Edit: Got my 3rd shot Dec 20th instead on first week for Jan which is much better.

I got Moderna. Many people got Moderna. Many say Moderna was the best one at the time of initial rollout. Why do they want Pfizer?

All three of my shots were Pfizer. I would have been equally pleased with Moderns, and even mixing Moderns in. I wanted the booster to be Moderns, but they were only giving out Pfizer boosters here.

Canadian who had Pfizer for the first two and got Moderna as my booster two days ago. I would have chosen Pfizer if given a choice but I'd rather have the shot than not.

Source on this bloody 'half' thing you keep spouting? It's an issue but you're greatly exaggerating it.

I don't trust your sources on this one. Plus, vaccine mixing was a cause for concern for those who traveled early on as it often wasn't accepted in other countries. Not so much anymore but that could still spur some hesitancy.

I mix coke and pepsi sometime, its not a big deal

All 3 of my shots have been Pfizer, but I would have taken a Moderna if it was the only booster available. They already confirmed that mixing was safe.

My 2 jabs and the booster were Pfizer. Apparently its the best vaccine.

Yeah Modena is the most effective and takes longer before weakening.

First 2 doses were Moderna. I'll likely get a Pfizer booster though.

This means HALF of Canadians are uninformed bellends. Which isnt surprising since the only respectable part of Canada is Qubec.

I'm 3-time Pfizer and the booster shot knocked me on my ass this week. Got it Tuesday, and just now starting to feel normal-ish. Shit was crazy. First two had no effect at all.
