Like if I want to find a weightlifting program there are more serviceable programs than I could do in a lifetime even if I tried a new one every week. They would all have the basic principle of progression, i.e. doing more work in one way or another as you go along so that you actually get stronger.

But as soon as it comes to physio, all you find are "here is a good exercise for your wrist", or "try standing up from a chair every day by yourself", or "buy some rubber bands and flail around with them until something hurts". The physio at the hospital gave my mum a sheet of paper with 6 or so of these exercises and at the top it just said "try to do these for about 45 minutes a day".

I'm beginning to wonder how much less invalid people we'd have if the physio resources freely available to people actually had some practical programming and progression to them.

I have a coworker that has knee issues from an accident. Her physiotherapist gives her like an actual program to do. Then she goes into the office once a week so that they can see her progress.

I think it just depends on who you go to.
