Not true. Many towns and cities it is illegal to turn right on red, unless there is a sign permitting it.

Some drivers just think the red means nothing when across the road a person has a LEFT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT and these people still turn right on red.

I do it where it's legal
I live in NYC and we can't unless a sign says we can
When I drive in other states or in upstate NY where it's legal, I obviously turn right on red

i generally dont because my city has a lot of those time conditional "no right turn on red" signs up, where you can only do it from like 3pm to 2am on a Thursday or something. the print is so tiny i cant read it from the stop light and i've gotten a ticket for it before.
