Depends on the cost of living (COL) in your area.

Where I live, that would be enough to support yourself and another person. You'd have to budget it, but you should be able to live comfortably enough. All your bills will be paid and you should even have enough left over to buy nice things on occasion.

It's almost certainly not enough to raise kids on though.

Depends heavily on what you mean by "support a family" and where you live. Where I live in the Denver metro area you could raise a family but you wouldn't be able to have the American dream of the single family home you own in a decent neighborhood.

This is another aspect to consider. I've seen some people talking about a dollar amount on their paycheck and then you find out they are uninsured and have no retirement savings whatsoever.

Yeah, even in Los Angeles, you can support a family of 3 on 5k a month. It wouldn't be the most luxurious lifestyle, but you'd be okay.

Yes. 5000 after taxes and everything is more than enough to support a family. Obviously, how comfortable you'll be depends on where you live.

I make a bit more than that and my salary is a little over 100k. You should be able to live comfortably in a lot of the country on that, but will struggle near coastal cities.

Its enough to support one person
