You get so attached to them but they go so fast. Seems like you go from a pissy smelling puppy to a near sighted, hard of hearing dog with joint problems overnight.

Protip: fish oil helps. Just poke the pill with a needle and squeeze it into their mouth. A vet told me this.

That's a cool memorial for her. Do you smile when you look at it in remembrance? Or do you get sad?

Sorry to hear that TC.

I'd say it gets easier, but I still got my moments where I catch myself tearing up remembering a pet I've lost. But all the years you spent with her are something I'm sure she'd have never given up for anything.

A bit of both, it was really hard in the beginning because I had to make that decision to have her put to sleep. She suddenly became paralyzed in her rear legs from an injury, we thought it was pneumonia at first and kept her at the vet overnight but got the call that she was having difficulty getting up. I knew she would be more comfortable at home so I took care of her for a few weeks, but there was no improvement.

A dog at that size (135lbs) that can't move their rear legs is difficult to watch, and she was in a lot of pain when I tended to her. Couple that with the degenerative hip dysplasia, arthritic knee from past surgery it was too much for her to bounce back from. That was one of the toughest calls I had to make but I felt good knowing that I got to tend to her in those last days.

Thanks, I was hoping to get at least three more years, Corsos typically live 10-12 years but I'm glad for the time that she was here.
