Like it wasn't even because of anything in particular.

Just flat out stopped responding to or even looking at any messages or whatever that I sent.

She asked what I was doing NYE since in our town we're kinda going through a covid spike. I mentioned there was probably going to be a party here but since the spike happened everyone bailed and that apart from my roommates a few of their guests, I was just kinda lying around. Then I asked what she was up to, since she had mentioned staying with her family for the holidays.

Then a happy new years message later after midnight

Neither of them were either looked at according to Messenger?

Then I sent one or two more "hey" and "?". Same situation.

Prior to this stuff on NYE we were chatting a bit and she offhandedly mentioned being on her period and in pain, and also alluded to some intense stress from work and that she's "not doing too great".

Her and I seemed to be doing alright so I'm just confused and a bit lost and trying not to read too much into this?

Being ignored fucking hurts though

Yeah this happened to me, she ended up admitting she felt like I was great on paper but didn't feel a spark when we were together

If she's not crazy about you you're wasting your time. Dating is gonna be a lot easier if you drop anyone who isn't stoked for you

The weird bit is the last conversation we had was normal (I mean her stress/whatever aside) but it's like mid-conversation she just decided "nah".

Yeah, you're probably right.

The annoying part and the part that hurts is that I can handle a lack of interest, but her and I were friends for several years prior to getting together.

Not to sound like some entitled "nice" guy but I would've thought that that would at least entitle me to a heads up or a courtesy "Hey here's what's going on"

The only reason I'm kinda baffled is the aforementioned friendship and the fact that she apparently had been trying to make me and her happen for like a few years now.

It's totally possible she just doesn't care about me or value me, I just have a hard time wrapping my head around having such a 180 in opinion so relatively quickly.

She had also made reference before about the fact that she tends to have a hard time confronting heavy emotional stuff head on, but always will just "eventually when I feel I'm ready and on my terms" which in hindsight should've been a big red flag lol

Yeah I caved and sent one last message basically asking if everything is alright with her/us since she mentioned not feeling great mentally/emotionally and that I'm a bit confused and lost about things.

That'll be the last thing I send on my own. Ball is in her court rn and I'm putting her on ignore and hiding her on FB so the temptation isn't there and I'm not checking at my phone to see if she sent anything back lol

Only downside is we work in the same industry and said industry isn't very large in town so I'll probably see her in person as soon as tomorrow or later today lol

Sounds like it could be that the real you, isn't quite what she envisioned, but that's probably not your fault. When people want something, their imagination tends to run wild with possibilities, and once they have it they can become disillusioned upon discovering the truth of things may not be how they thought. Still, you'd probably be better off putting this fickle, immature girl behind you because she doesn't seem to respect your time, effort and feelings, or you in general.

Yeah Iunno

Our workplace/whatever you wanna call it is going through a bit of a scandal right now and that has contributed quite a bit to her stress or whatever.

So it seems bizarre that she would heap on "I'll ghost Doom_Art even though I'll still see him all the time" drama on top of that but who knows

I guess that gets back to her being bad at confronting emotions. It does suck, and yeah now that I understand your relationship better it does seem odd she couldnt throw you a courtesy text.

But again, it doesnt reflect on you at all. Im constantly dropping out of text conversations with no explanation whatsoever even with my closest friends and family and it doesnt say anything negative about them at all, its just me and my own dumb brain not letting me keep up relationships.

For added context, the last time we hung out was the 13th

We had plans for more stuff but she had to isolate for several days because she had developed cold symptoms and had a close contact with someone who may have had COVID.

She ended up being fine, and when we spoke on Christmas she apologized for not coming over and that "Work is hell, I'm mentally exhausted and just lie in bed not moving, I sleep all day/night"

Then developed cold symptoms again on boxing day, so that was a no go for hanging out.

Now I'm self conscious that I may have pushed a bit too hard in sending followup messages lol

Literally

1.5 days later:

"...?"

Several hours after that:

"Hey?"

This morning:

I think its fine since you two are so close, and if it isnt then it wouldnt be worth pursuing anyway. But yeah, definitely wait for her to respond before you say anything else at this point, imo.

based on her messages about feeling unwell emotionally/mentally, what's probably going on here is she's depressed (and probably not because of you)

depressed people sometimes stop responding to their entire network and "lie in bed all day/night" doing nothing. they call it 'inertia' and it becomes harder and harder to respond when more time passes from a message

safe bet if this is the case you won't see her at work today

if you do, and she makes eye contact, i'd suggest asking her how she's feeling--as a friend, since you were friends before

I agree with the spirit of "delete her number/facebook"

But I find just flat-out removing all trace of her from my life and closing that door entirely to be a bit extreme at the moment

Though it might become necessary later on depending on how things shake out.

I had similar issues a while back.
Girl i'm playing DnD with started flirting with me, not gonna go into details but it got pretty hot.
We could talk for hours daily.
And then it just sort of stopped, i'd be lucky to get one word responses.

She said it's cause of personal mental health issues
That was february last year.

it took me months to get over it. I was absolutely miserable for a good while.
At least i think i'm over it...most of the time

We still talk, as we're still in the same friend group, but it's not the same

I don't know where i was going with this post
