In the Japanese original, the "Ghost Kaiba" is either a ventriloquist (manga) or a generic disguise artist (anime). In the 4Kids dub, they call back to the Mind Crush Yugi used in the first episode, and say that "ghost kaiba" is just the concentration of evil that was banished from Kaiba's soul that Pegasus somehow magically summoned. It's just better. >_> Now granted once Battle City happened, the Shadow Realm was far more transparently a form of censorship, but even still! This is a war of magic and ancient gods.
