Why wouldnt I be able to do all 3 in this scenario

Because half-mil a year means you make about 25k take home pay after taxes every month. If you buy a 2 mil house, your mortgage is about 10k a month. Bills and house expenses will be another 2k per month. Thats half your salary going towards a house. A nice car will be about 2.5k in monthly expense. You also have to account for random spending on food and random stuff. Any more that you spend will just chip into your investment money. Like would you drive a GTR or an Accord + 2k per month in investments that you could potentially take a risk on for high risk high rewrad.

Can't say I'd be particularly interested in any of that.

I guess invest but fuck if I know how to do that.

I don't live in an area where a nice house costs 2 million. And what I consider a nice car isn't costing me that much money. I could easily do all three and still have a shit ton of money left over.

If I decline the nice house and car, I could live comfortably for about thousand years if I had a million, assuming prices remain more or less the same for a millennia.

I saw a buddy a few weeks ago that I went to law school with who made $640k+ this year and over 500 last year. Four huge bonuses plus a solid salary for the kind of law he does.

Drives a loaded Sierra, lives in a nice townhouse, and has a decent boat. Invests as much as he can. He wants to quit in a few years and start his own company. I would do something like that.
