Some say it encourages companies to try to stay open and threaten employees with penalties for refusing a holiday shift causing workers not to get holidays. But some people say that it's fair if the employees get double time, or else that it's not their fault the store is open and they're only going because it already is.

People have to eat holiday or not, and not everyone has the day before a holiday off, just like those employees having to work that holiday.

Yes. If someone has to work on a Holiday, let them stare at the wall, do nothing, and collect a paycheck. Eventually employers will notice, and even if they don't, at least they had an easy New Year's doing nothing.

No, but I do think its wrong to largely shut down society for holidays that everybody doesnt celebrate.

In america is open but in other countries those stores are closed and people still live.
