Every time I see this fight going down, I picture Link's weapon breaking right as Aloy can move in for the kill.

Both are well polished open world games, but Horizon was a new IP while BOTW felt unusual for a "Zelda" game.

I felt like neither of them were particularly great to be honest, though I enjoyed BOTW more than HZD.

HZD was pretty boring for me, didn't like the writing, the characters and the open world aspect didn't do anything innovative or unique, just a run of the mill open world title akin to Ghost of Tsushima. Both GoT and HZD have amazing sound & artistic direction though.

The narrative wasn't the strongest, but I think it's the gameplay that really sells it for me. Shooting giant robotic deer in the ass to explode them was fun, and the multitude of weapons to do so still feels "original"? I can't think of anything similar at least. It WAS run of the mill, super polished run of the mill, and i'm okay with that.

I wish the game had stronger melee combat, then I'd probably enjoy it a tad bit more. Felt like a weaker version of Monster Hunter basically.

That being said, it is polished, which feels like a weird thing to praise a game for as that's what we should expect from a premium, AAA product but I agree.

I tried to get into it twice, second time I reached the point of no return, where I think you're told you can still meet people & do missions for allies before going on a serious mission of some sort. I sort of lost my motivation at that point as I didn't really enjoy exploring the world all that much or the people in it.

It's a well made game, just not one of my personal must have recommendations. I'm not in the majority, which is fine.
