Maybe thats why theres a shuffle button?

As an artist that has put out a few albums: yes.

There is a certain flow that you want the listener to hear; a story if you will.

There is a lot of deliberation that goes into what song bleeds into the next and how you wish to curate the listener's experience.

In some sense people are committed to a prison of rationality in which proper nouns produce novel information indefinitely.

I was gonna close the topic after 5 minutes to sum up the idea with the two first posts itt.

Yeah, a lot of care goes into how an album is presented.

Especially if it's a concept album.

Back songs are the filler ones to meet the requirements for a long play (lp).

I guess it depends but I would say in general, yes. In my favorite albums the songs transition seamlessly from one song to the next and it's so great. I basically never listen to those on shuffle

They usually put the best song as the second track

The Decemberists' "The Crane Wife" album begins with The Crane Wife 3 and The Crane Wife 1 and 2 occur on track 9. They tell a narrative, so you'd think they'd be in order. Idk.
