I do, and I don't care what they think. Especially with covid, it's interesting how many people who cling to their bibles with their last breath don't give a shit about other people. And then they want the world to care about them when they get severe covid infections and end up in the hospital.

Yeah, watching these people in small religious rural towns in Missouri basically say "fuck everyone who isn't me" has been entertaining.

Everyone who has paid any attention has known this is who they were all along but watching them take the mask off has been wild.

I wouldn't, I used to live in a small rural town in the south and there was a whole big uproar regarding a kid saying "I don't believe there is a God". I kid you not, people at my Southern Baptist congregation were doing hours of exorcism trying to drive the "devil' out of him for saying that.... I know because I was kind of dragged into performing it as well (I was 5 at the time, I didn't know any better). Basically the kid had to lie about believing in God to stop them from pressuring him (the only reason I know was because I finally got around to talking to him 3 years ago, he also moved to LA like me).

I'm an atheist but I would never go to my parents (who are devout) and say I don't believe in God anymore because I don't want to be a jerk. I will only stand my ground if they tried to force me to do those religious retreats or anything like that.

What's the point of telling them that? If you're not religious anymore, why does it matter if others know or not? By making a big deal about it, you'd ruin the best part of not being religious >_>. Just let others believe what they want and don't get involved.

Yeah I'm the same way. I will only answer that I'm an atheist is if someone specifically asks me what I believe in. Otherwise most people wouldn't even know I'm an atheist....IRL that is. I just don't know in many situations it would be appropriate to say that you don't believe without being a jerk tbh.
