GameFAQs automatically censors swear words unless you disable it. Censor bypassing means the auto-filter doesn't pick it up.

sometimes you're just typing words and a censor bypass happens by mistake. perhaps you meant to swear on purpose but accidentally made a typo, "bypassing" the filter, or the mods purposely misrepresent a completely different, actual word, as some sort of attempt at a censor bypass and uphold the appeal when you tell them they're wrong and to stop misrepresenting what you say maliciously
on top of that, theres no reason to have a swear filter to begin with. 13 year olds can swear and nobody younger than 20 even comes here anyway
for those reasons, the rule is a farce, along with most of the rest of the rules on this website

Censorbypassing on GameSpot is dumb, most sites allow you to censor all but the first and last letter, GameSpot decided you can have to censor everything but the last letter however you don't have to censor the last three letters if they're "ing."

Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either.

Even more so with the weird situation of "there's some words you can write as normal and the profanity filter will catch them, and there's some it doesn't and you have to censor outright, but of those, there's some you're allowed to say as long as you censor them, and others you aren't". I get the reasoning behind why some end up in the last category; it's the middle category existing seperately instead of being folded into the first that doesn't make sense.

They really need to bring back autoflag IMO. Words that are acceptable but might want to be filtered (which should be expanded to include the four-letter C word, aside from that it's pretty much fine as-is) go on the filter, words that are only acceptable in very specific contexts go under autoflag (and perhaps also get filtered?), words that aren't acceptable at all go under outright banned and you're told "don't use them at all", not "you have to censor them a particular way".

Even more so when they make these decisions on the basis of American standards that might not hold up elsewhere. (Again, the four-letter C word is the main one that comes to mind here.)
