Some Sandy Hook parents sued Jones for defamation over his statements that they were "crisis actors" and after a couple years of court proceedings Jones has had a default judgement rendered against him because he failed, repeatedly, to turn over documentation the parents' lawyers requested. The judge in the case, fed up with Jones trying to stonewall the court, finally entered a default judgement (meaning Jones is found to be at fault without a trial) after issuing several court orders to Jones trying to compel Jones to aid in the discovery process, which Jones ignored for like a year. As a result, the trial will now move forward but the only issue to be determined will be how liable Jones is for damages to these families, IE how much monetary compensation they should get for the defamation Jones leveled against them.

I think this is actually a 5D chess move by Jones, sincerely. It's gonna cost him a lot out of pocket now but for the rest of his career he's gonna be able to point at these default judgements and scream "LOOK AT HOW FAR THE CORRUPT COURT GOES TO SILENCE MY VOICE. I COULDN'T EVEN GET A DAY IN COURT TO PROVE MY INNOCENCE!" and he'll be able to spin that into something he can milk his fanbase dry over. He'd rather that the hit now in the wallet as in his credibility at trial (and probably his wallet there too, frankly). Going to an evidence based trial was going to be a crapshoot at best and probably would have painted him in a terrible light even if he won
