I'm a Graduate level Social Work student, a solid third of my classmates work in school placements, a huge chunk of my professors work in school settings, I could be in a school right now doing internship stuff if I wanted.

All of this is to tell you you don't have the FIRST fucking clue what you're talking about.

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of school-based therapy, the same as it is literally everywhere.

Open club activity is not remotely the same as individual counseling and you can fuck all the way off with the up your own ass attitude.

I dont really feel the need to go to any lengths to defend the oh so controversial opinion of schools shouldnt be able to hide student activities from parents, especially not from the likes of you. Youll have better luck going after another target for your pointless antagonizing.

I dont find it reasonable for a school to hide the activities of children from their parents if the parents ask about it, especially not with the justification of some parent are bad.

Plus these "hidden activities" can and do lead to horrific outcomes, which you straight up ignored.

Either the parent already knows their kid is LGBT or the kid is building up the courage to come out which clubs like this can help with. If it's neither of these they're a shitty parent. So yeah it's better to keep it anonymous because nobody good benefits from finding out from the school.

More shitty conservative parents and staff trying to control and repress their kids sexuality. Plugging their ears and blaming everyone else when the kid isn't what they want is on brand for them.

You consider simply saying that I dont believe schools should be able to hide what children are doing at school from their parents to be a melty? Thats a pretty low standard you have there and I dont believe that what Ive said changes anything about my good standing when it comes to social issues. We are not talking about private counseling here. We are talking about open involvement in a social club. If a hypothetical student is in such dire circumstances as what youre describing then steps should be taken to ensure their safety. I just do not believe that schools hiding what is going on at school from parents is an appropriate method of that to support.

They don't. They think being gay is a choice. In their mind, people say to kids "hey you heard about this thing called homosexuality? It's pretty cool....."

You are out of your mind if you think people should have to come out to their parents.

Hell, I'm 36 (bi) and don't intend on coming out to anyone over 60.

All my friends and my partner know, but years of listening to parents talking about how bad homosexuality/bisexuality/being trans were really fucked me up. When I did finally come out to people my age I had a breakdown from all the resulting pressures.

I think it's reasonable for teenagers not to want their parents to know everything about them. I don't think the school library, for example, should have to notify parents when kids check out books, and parents shouldn't have to be told their child is in a GSA at school either.
