They're very smart in their specific field (neurology) but in other aspects of life, they are quite dumb.

Well you're obviously very smart so I trust your opinion on this.

Smart enough to know that tossing out random fallacies is also dumb

Did someone say a PhD meant a person was "smart" or a good person in all aspects of life?

The two smartest guys I know both have PhDs. One of them is an Astrophysicist, and has the social skills of a piece of wet cardboard. Having a conversation with him is like one of the Greys escaped from Area 51, is trying to pose as a human, but suffered a severe head injury a few minutes before you showed up. And that's while talking to me, one of the few people he feels comfortable enough to try to open up to. He's worked with people for over half a decade, who have only communicated with him via E-mail. And he's likely more intelligent than every other person I've ever met, combined. Fucking homeschooling should be illegal.

The other is a Biochemical Engineer, with a PhD in Biology. He cannot function unless he's smoked weed. This guy would get so high that he could barely open his eyes, sit down at his laptop, and type out a 50 page essay in one sitting, and get straight A's. Second in our undergrad class. He had companies bidding on him coming out of graduate school, while showing up to the meetings clearly high, and obviously smelling like weed. He was smart enough that they didn't give a shit. Makes more a year than I do in five.

Fuckers.

The American education system is really just about how much work you turn in. It's also why jobs like seeing college degrees, they know you can be a mindless drone for them. You don't have to be smart and it doesn't measure your intelligence very well because paperwork is something most people can understand.

Being good at one thing doesn't mean that you're good at everything.

You cant get a PhD in neurology. Thats a medical specialty.

Also, raw intelligence doesn't matter, all that matters is things stay within the protected limits of what those that rule find acceptable. Deaths, mistakes, none of it matters to those in charge.
