Pretty fun so far. I only ever watched a playthrough of RE7, but I do understand the story...somewhat, anyway. I'm obviously not spoiled on anything here.

Anyway, as I am in constant need to show my superiority, past the initial 'survive these things' moment I've been murdering everything. Knowing RE, this likely isn't a good idea but I haven't lost TOO much in terms of resources. Everything that I used I got back.

Story feels weirdly not RE(mostly the beginning, it's starting to feel RE4ish as I play) but I'm down with it so far.

Axe boy is prolly gonna be the Jack of the game, isn't he?

The game is sort of a mixture of RE4 and RE7. As for the axe guy, no. However, the game is fun and will get even better later. I assume you are at the village parts right now

Do you need to conserve ammo like the other games or can you just kill everything and not worry about ammo?

Mostly depends on what difficulty you pick.

Though once you upgrade a gun all the way, and upon completing the game you can buy infinite ammo.

I am at the village atm, jes. I need to get to the survivors spot with the chick and the old man.

I picked normal. Hopefully this playstyle doesn't end up getting me killed lol.

I only had ammo issues at the very beginning and very end of the game.

Yeah you'll be fine playing that way on normal. Might hit a couple rough spots but there's plenty of resources as long as you make sure to get them lol.

So far the shotgun is my favorite thing lol

That's my reaction upon seeing you-know-who.

I got like almost 20 shotgun rounds, 70 pistol rounds, and 3 healing things. I find the vampires to be SUPER easy to block and dodge. A single headshot is all it takes to make them stop long enough for me to get by. The werewolves are MUCH harder to fight.

Had to use a heal recently, though, which was disappointing.

Game isn't as scary as RE7, ngl.

Good game as a combo of 4 and 7, but not near as good as any of those. Just a watered down version of them.

Eh, this game in particular is more action oriented. Though, if you want something scary then just keep on progressing and you will be in for a shock

RE4, RE7, and RE8 are the absolute best titles of the franchise, bar none. Change my mind.

One downside about RE8 I noticed is that the Book of Shadows difficulty is a huge step down from RE7's Madhouse format. No major differences in progression, item/enemy locations, or gameplay; just the usual "bullet sponge enemies + scarce ammo = harder" sort of bs changes.

Mercenaries is also pretty weak given that it's in first person and you're still playing one character.

I'll rephrase it then. You're subjected to play this action mode strictly as Ethan which sucks. Feels like an afterthought or else there would be much more variety with playable characters and maybe a new map level altogether.

Madhouse had two annoying parts and I dont want to remember them. I managed to complete it but it took some time

It's vastly inferior to both 4 and 7, despite trying to draw heavily from both.

Don't worry about ammo conservation though. You get plenty for a playthrough on Normal, even if you do kill everything.

Do you get another weapon after the sniper? The third case upgrade seems a bit steep considering I haven't even used up the space on the second case upgrade lol

Depends on difficulty setting, accuracy and thoroughness in exploration.

There are like...4 weapons after sniper.

Get to exploring. They're not particularly difficult to find, and you haven't missed anything yet.

One more thing - Normal imo is way too easy. Hardcore is a proper challenge. Don't do village of shadows, it's needlessly frustrating for a first playthrough.

Haven't played it but from what I could tell on other people's experiences, you can absolutely go rambo on enemies in Normal difficulty. Hardcore is only slightly more challenging. Brutal at the start, though.

RE:2R beats the living shit out of 7 and 8 and for sure gives 4 a run for it's money. I still have 4 higher because of on point pacing for over 2-3x the length of 2's campaign + better post game content.

And on that note, I don't know how Capcom will live up to a 4 remake lawl

It's for sure not gonna be as good because I think I read that they're gonna "fix the cheese" in some aspects. That's part of why RE4 is so good, lol.

I'm half convinced they're remaking RE4 just because you can reuse all of Village's art assets lol
