It depends on a lot of factors, the most important probably being: are you mostly going to watch stuff on this TV in a dark room or with lights on? OLED doesn't get as bright as LED but it has better darks and a generally wider viewing angle.

EDIT: There's also QLED TVs now which are closer to regular LCD tvs but with some of the benefits of LEDs. They have better brightness than OLED but still can't reach the levels of blackness as LEDs. QLEDs also come in a much larger range of sizes, but the quality of the picture will depend heavily on the manufcaturer.

They have the best picture quality, but you have to really worry about burn in. I'd get a QLED instead.

Well what TV's are you looking at? It sounds like you're comparing an OLED to a lower end TV. IMO, it's more important to get a TV with features that you want. Don't get a high end TV just for the hell of it.

This. I got the Samsung QLED. I have a habit of watching TV while working, but I hit pause when I need to take a call and sometimes don't resume for an hour, so the picture just sits there unless it's an app with a screen saver.

I also play basically the exact same games pretty much so burn-in would definitely have been a concern on an OLED.

I say go with the Hisense, unless you really care about the black levels. The C1 is unparalleled in black uniformity and contrast ratios, but I don't know if that's really worth the extra $1000.

The U8G sounds like a great deal for that price. Rtings.com even rates it higher than my Samsung Q80, which costs $300 more than the Hisense.

Lg c1 vs samsung q80r. I have access to both and they are sitting not too far away from eachother. The lg c1 does have better pic quality overall especially for movies and tv.
For videogames I dont really believe there is much benefit of the increase in contrast ratio going from a highet quality led to an OLED outside of horror titles.

LED main benefit is being incapable of burn-in and can get brighter so I have my pc hooked up to it and its next to a window

Only time it wouldnt be worth it is if you have a top tier plasma. OLED is still better than plasma, but at the high end the difference is marginal compared to upgrading from an LED.

I'm pretty sure burn-in isn't much of an issue after 2018. I've had an LGC8 and now LGC1. Played games on them for hundreds of hours, even BotW with red hearts always on the screen and bright red is one of the biggest culprits.

Not even a hint of burn-in. I honestly don't worry about it at all after 3+ years. Pretty much every TV reviewer will tell you modern OLED is the best TV for gaming.

I have an LG C9. It is definitely worth it. I went from a 1080p samsung plasma TV I had for like 9 years then upgraded to a budget 4k samsung that honestly felt more like a sidegrade. Like the resolution was clearly better, but everything else about the washed out blacks/greys, lack of contrast, panel quality was just lower.

Then I got the C9 and had the pants knocked off of me. It is so ridiculously vivid. I've had it for over a year and I still do a keanu "woah" every once in a while. The Expanse is particularly amazing on it with the true blacks for the space scenes. I say it's worth it. Closest to a movie theater experience and if you have a new console like the PS5 it'll also be a treat with it.

I'm not worried about burn in because I don't leave the TV on channels with static tickers. The UI on certain video games can be troubling, but only if you play for like 8+ hours a day and the same game. But even for extended sessions like when I was playing Returnal, I didn't have any issues with burn in all this time. Plus if you afk from a game or pause a show it'll shortly go into a screen saver to prevent burn in automatically.

There are maintenance setting on some OLEDs to fix the burn in, to varying degrees of success depending on severity. Though tbh, unless you're leaving the tv on static images for long periods of time you shouldn't in theory at least, experience issues.
Mainly where burn in is noticeable is when someone has made the foolish decision of selecting one for the monitor, not realizing PC's have long periods of static images which burn into the display.

This is basically what happened to me. I think I rushed into getting a 4K TV because I really wanted a 3D TV (this was back in early 2017) and by that time, 3D was being phased out so I bought the only one still available which was a combo 4K / 3D made by Sony.

It wasnt even that good. Like yours, the blacks seemed more washed out and no matter how much I fiddled with the settings, it just never really looked great. Jokes on me too, because it turns out I didnt like 3D at home. Kind of gave me motion sickness lol.

That TV also developed a really bad dirty screen effect. A nice 4-inch block appeared near the bottom of my screen that went across the entire thing. It bothered me way more than it probably shouldve lol. The display ended up getting really fucked up anyway so when that happened I went with an OLED and I couldnt be happier.

The 2009 Samsung 1080p that I have is still kicking and looks great.

I still have an OLED Samsung TV from 2010, and the picture still looks great on it, so I'm definitely leaning towards an OLED whenever I finally replace this one.

Burn in never really happened on it until the last year or so, and even then, it goes away pretty fast whenever you get a video running. I don't know if newer models have worse burn in issues, I would hope they have improved that.
