I helped my dad with his parents possessions and we had to rent a large dumpster. Ill need to do the same with my dads stuff. Not everything is collectible or useful.

Its like my step mother and her old record collection she had complete all the way back in the 1980s. Most of them are worth a nickel and music I dont care for. WTH do I want with 150 worthless records? Its just stuff.

I kept one thing of my mothers. Her old work badge with her picture on it. She wore it around her neck for the last 20 years of her life and it sitting in a little box in my drawer is enough for me.

I hope that with my passing, my sons will use my assets to do whatever is necessary in order to make their lives easier.

Only thing I'd ask is not to sell things or give away items of sentimental value. Anything else is fair game, whether they want to use it, or sell it.

I don't support inheritance beyond low value items. I would want my kids to be independent and not rely on me for things they want. I would bequeath some stuff to people close to me that I know they would like and have everything else donated to charities.

My dad once told me that I should sell his comic book collection after he passes someday.

When I told him I would never sell them, because I want to keep them for myself, his eyes started to tear up some. I'll never forget that.
