This is so frustrating to me. A lot of the time if Im with a group of people say at a game club or out socialising if I try to input my thoughts in a conversation of guys they either just ignore me or dont take anything I say seriously or mansplain the topic that I already knew. Like I cant be smart enough to know what theyre discussing.

Once I was with a few guys and they were talking about a topic relating to the cosmos and how black holes work. I love this stuff so I thought Id put my piece into the convo and a guy literally said to me shh sweetheart the men are talking. You wouldnt understand this subject.

I was stunned and just walked away in a daze thinking what did I do wrong?

Tfw you tell her there's a trillion stars in the Andromeda Galaxy, and her going "ugh, what?"

I dont understand the difference between mansplaining and explaining

I believe this happened on my very first day at school. I dont really remember but I cant be the first child to feel like this. I had no idea why I didnt like that child, but I did. I felt really, really, bad for her. I would often just walk by her and smile at her.

As the year went on, I noticed her more. I noticed how smart she was. She was so smart. It was like she was in a completely different world than everyone else. I was the only child that knew where everyones books were and what they had to do before break and lunch. Everyone else had to find the school bus stop, wait for the bus to stop, get on the bus, get on the sidewalk and stop at the bus stop. It drove me crazy.

I think I started to get jealous of her because she always seemed to be laughing at other kids. I didnt think other kids were stupid at all, but she did and she made fun of them in a smart way. She was so, so smart. She made it so hard for me to stand out, but she was also my only friend. I loved her. She was so nice. I hated that kid.

One day, at lunchtime, she came up to me and told me she wanted to be my friend. I immediately thought that she was crazy and she wasnt very smart and she shouldnt be my friend. But she was so nice. I kind of accepted her as a friend.

I often get the feeling women presume they're being mansplained whenever a man happens to disagree with them on anything, but if a guy literally said it like you described, then yeah, that's definitely uncalled for.

I can imagine it's frustrating, especially when you hear stuff like that frequently. I think it's probably for the best not to get too worked up about it, but no need to stay quiet either.
In a case like this when the topic at hand fascinates you, you might surprise them by mentioning something that instantly shows you're not a rookie on the subject.

Mansplaining = when a man automatically presumes a woman doesn't know what she's talking about, even if the woman hasn't had the chance to prove she does.
