is the same problem I had with Ghost Busters Afterlife, it never shuts the fuck up about the nostalgia. Here's a throw back scene! Hey remember when they said this line in the previous films? Like I don't mind easter eggs here or there, but Ghost Busters Afterlife just nonstop does it every second they get. I honestly think Matrix 4 became a more bearable film to watch when it started actually showing what really happened after the third film... you know when the plot actually moved forward, instead of the first act when it kept referencing back to the previous films like a bad fanfic.

I really wish the action scenes were done much better as well. This movie does the typical junk that a lot of modern action films does: fight in dark lighted areas, quick camera cuts, shakes the camera, has shit blocking the way, etc. Why couldn't we have something like the first film fight scene?

Yeah it was cheesy, but at least you could tell what the actual fuck is going on. For how self aware this movie supposedly was, it really shouldn't been a slam dunk in the fight choreograph at least.

I had the same issues with alot of the throwback stuff. It started to feel out of place as characters in universe even commented on things being a throwback and it got old. The subtler stuff wasn't so bad but when characters are basically saying "remember this?" every ten minutes, it's too much.

I don't believe in belts. There should be no ranking system for toughness.

The first half was incredible. I wasn't sure if the original trilogy actually occurred.

The second half I started to feel the true flaws. No Hugo Weaving, no Lawerence Fishburne, no Yuen Woo-ping, no Don Davis.

Yeah some movies don't need to tread on similiar grounds, just let it be its own thing. Which made me annoyed about Matrix 4 and Ghost Busters Afterlife.

The movie still never convinced me why they needed new actors for those characters, with that said the new actors they got did a decent job mimicking them.

The action 100% did not feel like Matrix during the fights, except for maybe the first one on the lake.

That was actually the only "good" one. Even the fight with the new Mr. Smith was incredibly disappointing.

Modal Morpheus was created by Thomas Anderson through inspiration from Neo's memories. A combination of OG Morpheus and Agent Smith.

New Smith was of the Analyst's design. Lana Wachowski wanted Hugo Weaving back, but the change in appearance can be explained similar to the OG Oracle. It's simply another vessel.

The guy who played Agent Smith did a horrible performance. He just seemed like a random new character, not Smith.
