Current Events > Doing a one-life/ironman playthrough for my first time with RDR2, any advice??

I only usually have fun with games if I do some kind of challenge like this. Playing with only one life raises the stakes a ton and makes a lot of games (particularly games with open worlds or survival elements) way more rewarding than they would be otherwise. Most would recommend doing this after you learn a game, but I think it is actually even more fun to do it on a first playthrough.

I'm about to start RDR2 for the first time, and what I want to know is: Are there any cheap deaths that often get players, or other common ways of dying I should watch out for? Any one particular moment in the campaign maybe where it's just really cheap if you weren't aware of it beforehand?

Probably gonna die from tripping off a sidewalk.

Do your stats show you your total kills like in GTA? I like keeping track of stuff like that, especially in an iron man playthrough.

I might give myself some leeway depending on the situation, but maybe not. I played Skyrim this way. A lot of times I only make it 5 levels, but when I do good sometimes I get 20 levels and a couple dozen hours in before I die.

You might want to get through the first chapter first. Replaying it after each death sounds tedious.

This is good advice. Or using each new chapter as a checkpoint of sorts. The first chapter in particular is very slow and basically risk free. Not something you will want to redo.

Try not to fall asleep playing this game.

Yeah this makes sense. I literally just started, but when I do these playthroughs, when I have to restart, I usually start it at the point when the game opens up.

Update: Arthur jumped over the edge of the train and fell off and was run over by the train. I had no say in the matter. Arthur is deceased.

That also means you cant leave the game when riding long distances in cinematic view. Too many times i done that and i come back and found out i died somehow.
