Sometimes people find themselves in the same stage in life or struggles in life. Everyone is not going through the same problems at 21.

When I was 21 I was friends with other musicians in their 30s, even 40s.

Probably not a lot. I have friends much older than me and I don't have a lot in common with them, but I still consider them friends.

Common interests, possibly. I (29) met a 19-year-old girl on vacation and we've been hitting it off great since then. Went to a theme park, went to the movies. Would've gone on more trips if there wasn't a new COVID lockdown.

Have you ever talked to a 20 year old? I have young people at my job all the time and most of the time they are just like everyone else. Maybe a little ignorant on some things but thats it. I have zero issue with it and can have some good conversations.

I have plenty in common with people that age.
We both like:

• drinking
• gaming
• pokemon go
• smoking weed
• going to the beach
• cool bars/resturants
• getting the most out of life
• specific seasons of the year
• anime (far more girls in their low 20s watch anime then girls near 30)
• science fiction fantasy
• oh and of course sex

getting older doesn't change the things you like or hobbies you partake in. So whatever you did at 20 you'll still enjoy at 30 and 40... Now whether you have the time or opportunity to do those things is a different story.
So there is no reason why a 20yr old wouldn't have things in common with a 30 yr old. Maybe one goes to school and the other works and maybe the 20 yr old likes to party and the 30 yr old is past that.

See the trick is to find things that thr younger partner likes that you like as well while sticking with things that you like that they dont necessarily like.

First of all, if you are talking about them saying it's ok to date, then that has nothing to do with having something in common. Anyone can date anyone they want for any reason they want. Both are consenting adults, so why would it bother you who dates who? Not to mention, a 9 year difference isn't even that big...

As for what they have in common, it could literally be anything. I watched shows I like with people 15-20 years older who like the same shows. Or games. I was playing video games with my mom the other day. Or food. Or some random hobby you have. Or literally whatever. Some people connect over hobbies they both have. And I believe the majority of hobbies (or at least common ones) don't really have an age limit... I mean, they could even have a similar job. Or work at the same place or whatever...

I mean, there are plenty of age gap relationships out there... And many work just fine...

And there, stuff like this could happen. I barely had anything in common with my other exes, who were all within a few years of my age. We like different stuff almost completely. But my recent BFs who all had an age gap had much more in common with me...

I'm assuming TC doesn't work, I've always had big varying age groups at my jobs and we get along fine. Yeah, life goals and mentalities can be different, but as far as interests and hobbies go, it's pretty much all the same. One of my main coworker friend groups is ranged from 20 years old to nearly 40 years old. We all pretty much enjoy the same things, only difference is the 20 year olds don't get 90s references.

Yeah. This is true for me, too... The age range definitely varies at most of the jobs I've had. Yet, I got along with many people of different ages and more. Some people I got along with were nearly the opposite of me in some cases...
