Overall I thought it was pretty good. Very suspenseful, very anxiety inducing at some parts. But the ending was... not good. It really didn't need to end on a cliffhanger for a season 2. And it was pretty weird when The old man turned out to be alive, and he was like "The name's Squid Game. John Squid Game, and I was behind it all along!" Also what the hell was with his hair at the end lol that was very distracting.

Best theory behind the hair is that the color was that of the guards so he chose it to feel in control.

I agree. It was so good and then just got weird. I actually think it'd have been way more impactful if the next season was just another Squid Game that he somehow interferes with or whatever as a late season surprise.

I didn't mind the old man twist that much... it was dumb but whatever the whole thing is kinda odd anyway. They definitely should've had a more airtight way of getting him the card instead of the rose. Like just have a card be sticking out of his door on return or something.

I think the cop/brother thing was actually the most eye-rolling twist for me. Kinda sunk down to like soap opera level twist at that point.

The old man thing was painfully obvious from episode one, and I feel like the cop and brother thing was added as an afterthought to try to make everything a bit more interesting.
I thought the ending was pretty terrible. I expected it be a willy wonka scenario, and the mc would take over for the old man. Would have been way way better imo.

It's a thing some kids do before starting middle school in Korea. I felt like it was some vague reference to that idea since the rest of the show plays on all that other elementary school stuff. Same basic idea as your theory, I guess.

So my brother brought up a good point to me. Everyone failed the marbles game. The rule wasn't "hold all 20 marbles" the rule was "hold all 10 of your opponent's marbles" so if the game they agreed upon was "hand each other your marbles at the same time" nobody would lose.

I dont think that would fly because the whole point of the squid games is to make an entertaining show for the disgustingly rich people. If they did this I am sure they would have enforced that they go through with the game as it was intended. Also theres the chance of "translation error" here.

The squid games weren't really designed for subtle rules exploitations. I'm honestly surprised he didn't get shot for what he pulled with the candies. Even when they were playing completely fairly on the bridge game (literally the worst game jfc) they were punished for it.

The biggest problem with the show IMO is that the games aren't actually fun to watch. Like, you're telling me that the best form of entertainment for a bunch of rich assholes is watching a bunch of people sit around and poke at candy?

Also, I agree with the bridge game being the worst one. It's not even based on a children's game.
