I got the DJI Mini 2 and it should be delivered today. I've been wanting to get some way to look at my roof without actually going up there and this seems to be the easiest way to do it.

Yep, that'll work. If you've got a decently beefy computer you can download the free version of pix4d and drone deploy and build a model of your house.

Oh that's cool. I might check that out eventually.

Nice. I got a DJI mini last year. To be honest, I haven't used it as much as I should have.

We live in such a weird time.

"I just bought a flying robot to look at my roof so I don't have to climb up there, and also my neighbor thinks the earth is flat."

Haha

I'd mostly rather not buy a big ass ladder and then have to store that big ass ladder somewhere

OK, just did my 1st flight. This thing is awesome. You hold the takeoff button on your phone and it goes up to about 2 feet. Then you're just controlling it with the remote. It hovers maybe about 2 feet off the ground until you actually tell it to land either by pressing the land button or holding the left joystick downward for a few seconds. It handles the landing on its own, too.

I just need a micro SD card for it.

Also, I didn't know that drones weighing over 250 grams have to be registered with the FAA, but it makes sense. This one weighs 245 grams, so I don't have to register it. It did give me an extra pop-up since I live near an air force base, though.

I also like how compact it is. It folds up very neatly for storage. Much better than a big ass ladder.

Keep it under 400ft in the air. I don't know how good the camera is on a mini, but good enough to do photogrammetry with easily. I'm assuming you just used DJI go as your flight control software, but do experiment with 3rd parties on that. DJI make fantastic hardware, but their software is complete ass and shouldn't be trusted.

Yeah, once it gets GPS it notices that I'm near an air force base and limits the max altitude to 60m
