I'm a little concerned. Everything I've read says the booster shot should be similar to first dose, not worse than second.

Fever, chills, aches, fatigue all day yesterday and this morning. Longer period of time and more intense than second shot. What's really concerning is I also have a sore throat, which is NOT a side effect of the vaccine.

@TheOnionKnight how did your booster go?

You'll be fine TC. Sore throat could be a symptom from something completely unrelated to the booster. Remember this time of the year sore throats are very common.

Good on you for getting it. You'll be back to normal before Christmas.

Booster was the worst for me as well. Fever, aches and pains and super tired the day after getting the booster. Went away the next day though, so not too bad.

Pretty much that.

I had arm soreness after all 3, second being the worst.

This describes my experience with the Moderna booster quite accurately. The fever and chills only lasted about 8-12 hours though, and the whole achy / fatigue period lasted about 36 hours.

So the good news is that you're not alone in this regard, and it will pass.

My booster was worse than my first shot, but easier than my second shot. HOWEVER a big part of what made my second shot difficult was that it absolutely killed my arm. The injection site was massively sore to the point where I had trouble sleeping. With the booster, my arm wasn't as sore, but I had body aches that lasted for about two or three days. And I was generally exhausted and feverish. It felt like a mini flu. But it mostly resolved by the fourth day and I was back to normal pretty soon after that.

Id imagine reactions to vaccines would get progressively more severe the more your body has built antibodies to the specific virus.

so all that means is that the body is doing its job and reacting appropriately.

The same thing happened to my wife. She got the booster and had the full array of side-effects, plus sore throat like you said TC.

She still feels crummy a week later, so we assume what happened was she randomly caught a cold right around the time she got the booster.

Is this being advised? I havent gotten my booster yet but I assumed theyd recommend waiting a period of time before getting any further boosters, like how they are having us wait 6 months between the 2nd shot and booster.

Ooof, that's rough. I hope you get better.

I wonder what it would be like if it become a thing where people just basically have to get a booster every year like the flu shot. I wonder if it would be popular or if people wouldn't want to have to deal with the symptoms every year. Would you take a 4th one if one came out? Or too early to say?

I think it might actually. Like if you get a shot while you have covid, its not as potent or effective.

Man that would suck if I have covid.

People like to forget that illness doesn't suddenly freeze because you got a vaccine. It takes a few days for any appreciable protection and 2+ weeks for maximum protection. Omicron is surging hard you may have been exposed within a few days before the shot.

Plus you have flu, cold, Strep, Norovirus etc that still get around.

Dunno if you read my post or not, but my booster symptoms lasted at least 36 hours (though the fever and chills wore off after about 12, then I was just achy and fatigued for at least another 24 hours after that).
