A man who helped assault police officers during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was sentenced to almost four years in prison Monday, prosecutors said.

The 46-month sentence for the man, Devlyn Thompson, 28, is among the longer prison terms handed down in the riot by a pro-Trump mob as Congress was counting the electoral votes in President Joe Bidens win.

Thompson helped a mob that was seizing riot shields from police officers and used a metal baton hed found to try to knock a pepper spray canister from an officers hand, prosecutors said.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth said during sentencing that the attack on the Capitol that day was an attack on the very rule of law in our country.

Still nowhere near enough time, but again... At least he'll be in prison for a few years.

Dems never would have gotten to the capitol steps, there'd have been several lines of police barricades.

A bunch of lefties blew up part of the capitol in the 70s.

We sure have been lenient on treason since a hundred years ago.

Basically, yeah. For that matter, there'd have been tear gas and rubber bullets fired within an hour of the crowd starting to assemble.

Oh man that's crazy and totally irrelevant to the political climate and heavy handed use of militarized police to shut down even the most peaceful of liberal leaning protests in 2021.
