I'm fairly certain it did, ninkendo.

The current state of WoW, it's presence in the MMO community, and it's patent company is so terrible that it's in the lowest state it's ever been from a public opinion standpoint even though people openly agree the game has been worst on multiple occasions.

Meanwhile, nearly all well known WoW players have moved to XIV or elsewhere. It was experiencing its highest influx of players in history during an EXTENDED content droubt which, if you're specifically talking adding new content, was XIV's most barren stretch since it's release. Word of mouth has never been higher. The game quite literally can't handle how popular its become at this time. The review average for Endwalker has surpassed Vanilla WoW as the highest rated MMO in history, for people who care about that kind of thing.

I don't think we're far from Blizz hitting the WoW 2 panic button, if they haven't already and have just yet to announce. They did so for Overwatch for far less.

WoW2 has needed to happen for multiple expansions as the faction split has killed any chance for a meaningful plot.

Probably too late now though all the good will is gone.

Edit: On WoW2 I understand why they didnt go that route after WotLK wrapped up the Warcraft 3 overarching plot for the first time as the game was at the height of its popularity, but they really should have after they wrapped up the Warcraft 3 overarching plot for the second time with Legion.

wow still has more cultural impact at the moment but there's no way they're gonna catch up to 14's subscription count without something like wow2

i would say most well-known casual streamers have crossed the line, but i wouldn't say most raiders/pvpers/M+ key pushers have

wow still has 14 beat in raids and harder content in general but that's... pretty much it
