I have been seeing memes about nuclear power and how it's safe and clean.

Lets get the record straight. Nuclear power is a disaster waiting to happen.

The reason is capitalism. Those people running this campaign are looking at big oil and turn green with envy. They see the billions that they make and want their business to be like that. They know that no one can own the sun or the wind, but its possible to own a uranium mine. Switching to nuclear power would just put them at top where they would run their business on greed.

In the past when disaster has stuck it was because of poor maintenance. The Johnstown flood, the levies failure in nNew Orleans, a run away trucker in Colorado. These things happen because greedy companies don't care about anything but profit and when a disaster does happen they won't ever be held responsible. They will just say that nuclear accident was the result of a disaster like a earthquake or tsunami. Corporations will kill you to make a profit and when it comes to nuclear any disaster is VERY bad.

It's not that I don't believe in science. I think nuclear can be safe. But I know it's about capitalism and that corporations can't be trusted. The true way to the future is wind and solar but nuclear.

The biggest issue is the United States is not going to be a stable country in the decades to come. Building a new nuclear power plant today is placing a lot of faith in the ability of a 2050 United States to safeguard it against climate change, crumbling infrastructure, politcal extremists...

It's because of capitalism that itll thrive.

It costs a few billion bucks to have a nuclear plant and big oil is tired of playing toesies with saultins, Zsars, and polar bears

Buy a mine and sit back and relax

its because of capitalism that nuclear has failed. they take to long to build, they have way to much red tape to cut through, and they dont start turning a profit until a decade into service. no company wants to build a large scale nuclear power plant now, and those little microscale ones are stupid with a much higher chance of actual issue. so without government funding nuclear is fucked.

Doesnt matter, there is no solution. The earth is too poisoned for humans to survive. Any efforts just extend out time here a little but 300 years from now every human being will be dead.

The bigger problem with nuclear plants is that from conception to approval to construction to operation takes MINIMUM 19 years.

Now unless we wanna start that process for a few hundred like right now, then it won't matter how clean or safe it is. It would be too late in terms of global climate change.

Nah, nuclear power is pretty great and there being kind of correlation between the ones shouting the loudest about green energy also being the ones most quick to dismiss nuclear as an alternative to coal is kind of bad for the planet.

It's impossible for nuclear or anything for that matter to reverse climate change. We should be focusing more on adapting then anything else.

And in regards to the time they take to build we should have been building them regularly for half a century now. If not for fear mongering BS in the news and media.

Most of the accidents have happened at nuclear power plants built in the late 60s & 70s. Theres been a lot of advancements in nuclear power technology since then. Also France seems to be doing fine.

At the very least there should be a designated storage location for the nuclear waste thats been laying around throughout the country. Maybe like somewhere underground, perhaps beneath a mountain in the middle of a barren desert.

Unless you somehow believe that uprooting native plants and animals to build a Solar/Wind facility and killing said animals by cooking them to death/putting them through the guillotine is good for the environment then go ahead.

Nuclear is the future. No use in pussyfooting around it. Sure the Nuclear plant will uproot some native species, but not nearly to same amount as solar/wind. The only real big issue for concern is storage that's not on native land. Until we can build an elevator to space and/or a way to shoot waste into the sun that will be a major concern.
