But why? Manchin has 1% of the power, as intended, the problem is 50 republicans all voted yes to the bill. Everybody should be voting based on what they think is best, not based off party loyalty

And Manchin represents .5% of the US population

meanwhile, senators from california represent 11% of the US population, and have 1% of the power

that is a failure of the system

Those 50 Republicans represent tens of millions fewer people than the 50 Democrats in the Senate, which gives disproportionate power to less states (which tend to be more rural and thus more Republican.) It's a structural problem.

The Senate is an institution that gives a disproportionate amount of voting power to a group of people that don't actually represent the majority of Americans

The House has its issues too, but the Senate is fundamentally broken

We don't want Manchin any more than you would accept Romney as a Democrat. It will be nice to get a real conservative West Virginia senator in there once the national Democrats cut ties with him and leave him on his own.

I thought the Senate was designed to give every joining colony or territory an equal amount of representation regardless of size. I thought it was the House that took population into consideration. I learn something new on CE every day.
