Idk how long it was going on for, but for the next 3 days and 6 hours of this post, "Don't Starve Nintendo Switch Edition" is having a trial on the switch. You can download it and play it until the trial is over. I believe that once the trial is over, if you decide to get the game, it should still have all you memory of the game... I think... So, if you haven't tried it, go ahead...

barely played base don't starve, don't starve together feels like the version to play in general

And also, does anybody have any tips for it? I'm am new to it. I did a little so far. And this time, I didn't die on the first day.

Also, what information can you give me on the DLC stuff... I think this on come with Shipwrecked and Reign of Giants. But I don't know much about those. And you can buy the Hamlet DLC or something, as well... So, any info about those would be appreciated

yeah, but it's still just as good solo

the main difference i read was stuff like expansion/dlc content drastically changing the game in DS while mostly just giving you interesting playable characters in DST. like the pigmen dlc changing the setting for DS (you have to live in a pigmen city and interact with shops and stuff), but just introducing new aspects for DST (like the pig princess playable character)

lol i'm terrible at dst and when the hounds spawn in after a few days, i basically have to stop the game

I see... I would probably like to try DST sometimes. But AFAIK, I think that's only PC right now. I think the switch is solo with DLC...

I think I'm on day 4. I do have a fire pit and can make beds. I live next to a wormhole. Haha... But so far, it's fun. And I want to try getting further. Having the trial was nice since I probably wouldn't have tried it otherwise, even though I've been wanting to...

yeah i'm pretty sure i got the base game for free or on a huge sale because i would have never tried it otherwise, but it is pretty damn fun, even if i never get far lol

first time i played it was in multiplayer and i just played the character that could only eat logs and had an infinite use axe, i specialized entirely into the woodcutter role and it was pretty hilarious of a time

i think you can still unlock all of these characters in Don't Starve and in general they're probably stronger, but man some are so specialized idk how people can play them outside of multiplayer

I know some people who just find amazing ways to play games sometimes. I swear some of them are geniuses...

DS/T is definitely a viewer's delight game lol

the base mechanics regarding sanity are so punishing i haven't really found a sustainable strategy for it earlygame, but speedrunners and youtubers probably got it down

the only time i don't repeatedly die from sanity loss is with specialized characters like Maxwell who simply do not care about sanity

I think sleep helps for sanity. But I know I didnt sleep for like the first 3 days because I needed materials and the science machine. Plus, the bed gets used up. But its probably the only thing you can really do early on that I know of so far

i dont think i discovered sleep as a concept until like 10~ game days played

but i did.... die alot....

I only found out about the tools my second playthrough. My first playthrough, I just kept collecting until it got super dark. And then just died. And I started laughing instantly. The second playthrough, I learned how to eat food, make a fire, etc... I'm still on that one. I saved and quit for the night... Or for right now... I will continue, though...

You shouldn't have to sleep to recover sanity. Lots of foods recover sanity(you need a crockpot). And some hats give constant sanity regen. IIRC the Top Hat is the easiest one to make that gives sanity regen. Also the hat you get from killing the walrus is pretty good.

I do know certain foods and clothes help with it. But when you start, every time it becomes night time, sanity slowly drains. Less so with fire. But if I use a bed, not only does it stop draining, but I believe it goes up, as well... It at least gives me one less thing to worry about for the time being... Plus, I usually have barely anything when I first start... Once I get further, I should be fine, though. This is for like the very beginning of a game... Haha.
