By young girl I mean she had to be between 8-10 years old. This has been irking me for hours so I guess I feel that I need to make a topic about it.

My guess is she was between 8-10 because Im comparing her to my niece who is 5. In fact, my niece was the first person I thought about when I saw her. I know its not people how to parent, especially because I dont want kids, but letting her walk around outside topless just feels like an awful idea.

Its 2021. The world is full of crazy people. Doing something like that just puts a target on your back IMO for those kind of people. I can only see possibilities of awful stuff happening to her if that is the norm. Since I see my niece in her, I think about what could happen to my niece.

The father looked to be out there too, fully clothed btw, which made it even more bizarre. I dont know It just irked me a lot.

I just think it's a jump to go from some pre-pubescent person being topless to acting like it's making them more likely to be sexually assaulted or something.

I think it was Ellen that had an old joke about this situation. Like she was outside playing like that one day and her mom called her in and gave her a t-shirt. Since then her boobs hadn't seen the sun. Could've been some other early 90s female comedian.

Eh, there are certain cultures where this is okay. I know when I went to Mexico (20 years ago, but still) it seemed weird that there were little kids swimming around in the hotel pool with a bikini bottoms on and nothing else, but you live and let live.

And on the its 2021! comment, realistically there are no more child molesters now than there were 30 years ago. Its just that we now get endless news from all over the country and world instead of just whatever our local newspaper or 5 oclock news show can squeeze in to one page/half hour.
